23Diathonite Insulation Plasternewton-membranes.co.uk
Newton Diathonite is a premixed plaster, bre-reinforced with cork (granular 0-3 mm), clay powders andNHL 3.5 natural hydraulic lime. The resulting natural compound produces a plaster with
unrivalled thermal and acoustic properties
that is both hard wearing and exiblewhich is ideal for both internal and external applications. Diathonite, whenapplied either internally or externally, creates a
seamless thermal barrier
which eliminates any risk of cold bridging within the structure.
Newton Diathonite Insulation Plaster
Eco thermal plaster with insulation and acoustic properties
Diathonite is composed of plaster,bre-reinforced with cork, claypowders and NHL 3.5 natural hydraulic lime. With less than 2% inorganic material,Diathonite is the highest functioning eco-friendly insulation plaster available.
Diathonite was a medal winner within theBest Eco Product category at EcoBuild 2011
Exceptional thermal insulation properties. When applied internally or externally,Diathonite creates a seamless thermalbarrier which eliminates any risk of coldbridging within the structure.
Thermal conductivity is 0.045 W/mK
Impressive acoustic characteristics- over twice the performance of conventional plasters or renders. The internal application of Diathonite to party wallssignicantly reduces soundtransference between properties
Sound absorption between600 & 1500 Hz
Newton Diathonite is very vapour permeable. The naturally occurring vapour drive continuesunabated so that internally derived humidity continuesto be removed from the internal habitable areas. The combination of lower internal humidity levels withhigher internal wall surface temperatures ensuresthat the dew point temperature cannot be arrived at,completely removing the risk of condensation andsurface mould.
Vapour permeability = 0.7kg/m
Can be applied bothinternally or externally
As a high performanceinsulated plaster for both theinside and outside of external walls As a render/plaster for listedbuildings due to its ‘green’credentials As an insulated render nishfor timber frame or SIPPS structuresCan be applied directly toNewton System 800 DampProong and Newton System500 Cavity Drain meshedwaterproong membranes As a sound insulating plaster for both external andinternal wallsThicker application can beapplied to specically prevent thermal bridges
One of the big advantages of applying Newton Diathonite to existing properties is that the
application can besplit between internal and external application
, whereas conventional insulation can only be added to theinside of the walls and so impacts greatly on the internal space. It is usual for the internally applied insulationto then have a covering, such as plasterboard, which further reduces habitable space.By splitting the application of Diathonite between the inside and outside of the wall, similar insulationcharacteristics can be achieved with just half the space loss of conventional insulation.
