Dissed Weekly – an online magazine for smart people
About:
Founded in 2008 by media industry professional JT Szabo, Dissed Weekly is a weekly online contemporary magazine promoting intelligence in online media publications by giving a voice to all forms of intelligence and thinking.
Much in the same manner as traditional print magazines of the same fashion, Dissed Weekly was inspired by the need for intelligent journalism and content while presenting the reader with an enlightening and entertaining experience.
Yet, unlike traditional print magazines, Dissed Weekly’s online presence and distribution not only eliminates paper dependence, but allows for a much broader, global distribution of it’s content ensuring the largest audience possible has access to Dissed’s content. Online distribution also allows for content once only accessible for a fee in newsstands and retail outlets to be available anywhere on Earth 24/7 365 days a year completely free of charge.
Magazine Style:
There are an endless variety of magazine and periodical genres, seemingly catering to every conceivable demographic. Yet, even with this vast array of choices, many people find the Internet filled with far less variety. Sure, there are a plethora of so-called “gossip” sites and personal blogs describing the mundane, but what about intelligent content not featuring what your favorite celebrity ate for breakfast? Now there’s a slim picking.
Intellectual, contemporary magazines have existed for nearly a century in its current form; yet have not become dominant in the online media industry. While anyone with a computer can “blog” about their favorite celebrity, their interests and thoughts, the Internet has so much more potential. That is where Dissed Weekly comes in.
Online Magazine:
Dissed Weekly provides a weekly alternative to the amateur content found online with an intelligent and thought-provoking writing and art in an easy to access flash format. Each issue is published to the web and viewed through an in-browser flash player giving the reader a modern experience.
With it’s online features, readers can access Dissed’s content virtually anywhere and at any time with any device with internet access. Another feature allows readers the ability to download and print full issues for free as a .pdf file, as well as emailing the issue to themselves or to friends.

Contributors:
As an online publication, Dissed Weekly utilizes the Internet for its contributors as well. This allows contributors to correspond virtually with Dissed Weekly thus eliminating even more paper dependence, as well as travel. The Internet is a global tool, and Dissed Weekly feels strongly that an online magazine is a global publication. It is this belief that allows the magazine to recruit and accept contributions from qualified individuals from anywhere on Earth, which in turn enhances the diversity and value of the publication.
Qualified contributors include professional journalists, as well as proven experts in their field or industry and talented artists, writers and commentators. Yet, what makes Dissed special is the ability to showcase "smart people" who would otherwise be "Dissed" from other so-called academic or educated publications. This base of top-quality contributors makes Dissed Weekly a respected source for intelligent and thought-provoking online content.
