The Korban Omer

1.

It is gqR axr. Three messengers of oic ziA go out to the fields of barley looking for moist stalks. They find the perfect stalks and tie them into three bundles. They must hurry back to milyExi where they offer their gqR oAxw. It is the second night of gqR, Three harvesters walk to the field outside of milyExi under a a full moon. They carry bins and scythes. The field is full of Jews coming to watch the stalks be harvested. Last night, everyone had eaten dvn and xFxn. Tonight, they are helping to prepare for an important oAxw that will be brought tomorrow, on the second day of gqR. At the field, the three harvesters asked the people gathered: "Has the sun set?" "Yes!" was the loud answer "Has the sun set?" "Yes!" "Has the sun set?" Yes!" "Is this a scythe?" "Is this a scythe?" "Is this a scythe?" Is this a bin? Is this a bin? Is this a bin? "Shall I reap?" "Shall I reap?" "Shall I reap?" "Yes!" "Yes!" "Yes!" "Yes!" "Yes!" "Yes!" "Reap!" "Reap!" "Reap!"

The harvesters cut down 3 d`q - about 16 pounds - of barley. They need enough barley to make 5 pounds of fine flour.

The harvesters bring their barley back to the ycwnd ziA with excitement. Only yesterday afternoon, the ycwnd ziA had been overflowing with the all the blood of the gqR zFpAxw that had been brought. Yesterday, the mipdFM had scrubbed out the dxr. That very morning, mipdFM had brought the cinY zFpAxw f sqEne for gqR. Now the mipdFM are getting ready for another important oAxw, the xnFr oAxw! The harvesters give the barley to the capable mipdFM. The mipdFM begin their work. They thresh the stalks until the barley kernels fall down. They take the kernels and roast them over a fire and then grind them into flour. The flour is sifted, sifted, sifted thirteen times until only the the finest flour remains. The mipdFM need about five pounds - a measurement of an xnFr - of the barley flour for the oAxw. It is morning. A odM mixes the flour with one bEl of oil and a handful of levona spice to make the xnFr oAxw. The odM puts the mixture in a pan. He approaches the add gA n and waves f f the pan as a d itY that rain and dew should come at the right l time. The sqEn oAxw is brought. Then the odM takes a handful of the mixture, and puts it on the gA n where it is burned. The rest f is given out for the mipdM to eat. Until the oAxw had been brought, it was forbidden to eat any grain that had grown in the past year. The new grain is called ycg. However, after the Omer was brought, all grain was called oy . Even today, food made from new grain is called ycg until i after until the second day of gqR. ycg may not be eaten in Israel. In Israel, they may only eat food from oy flour. Some i mipAx say that even outside of Israel one may not eat ycg. and can only eat food that is oy . i
