Who Are Texas Watershed Stewards?
Watershed stewardship means caring for the water,
air, and biodiversity in the enre watershed, while
acknowledging that everything is connected and is
aected by natural and human acvies. Water isthe most crical component of our life’s existence.
Without clean water resources, we simply cannot
survive. The quality and quanty of water foundwithin our watersheds are greatly aected by how
we choose to live on the land. And since each andevery one of us lives in a watershed, good watershedstewardship is crucial to ensuring the sustainability of
our water resources for generaons to come.
If we become aware of our watersheds, becomeeducated about the needs of our watersheds,
understand the eects that our acvies have on
watersheds, and discover ways to get involved in ourwatersheds, we will act more responsibly to preserve, protect, and enhance them.

Why is Watershed Stewardship Important? What are the Goals of the Program?
The Texas Watershed Steward program promotes
healthy watersheds by increasing cizen awareness,
understanding, and knowledge about the nature and
funcon of watersheds, potenal impairments, andwatershed protecon strategies to minimize nonpointsource polluon.
