BEETS (Band of Environmentally Educated and Employable Teens), is a green job training programfor 15-19 year olds, primarily living in the Western Addition of San Francisco. During their 100-hourinternship, BEETS gain experience working in community gardens and parks, designing and buildinggardens, learning basic garden maintenance, and assisting with teaching CommunityGrows gardeneducation classes for school aged youth. Interns are also required to attend all job training andcareer development worksops, attend all eld trips, and help with CommunityGrows events. Allinterns receive case managment and must attend an orientation and complete intake prior to starting.Examples of past workshops include: Resume writing, Finding a Job, Public Speaking, GuestSpeakers, Money Management, Successful Interviewing.Eamples of past eld trips include: SF College and Career Fair, Green Gulch Farm in Marin,Headlands Institute in Marin, Habitat Restoration in the Presidio, USF Garden.
