(hereinafterthe"Genovesecrimefamily"andthe"enterprise").Theenterpriseconstitutedanongoingorganizationwhosemembersfunctionedasacontinuingunitforacommonpurposeofachievingtheobjectivesoftheenterprise.TheGenovesecrimefamilyengagedin,anditsactivitiesaffected,interstateandforeigncommerce.TheGenovesecrimefamilywasanorganizedcriminalgroupthatoperatedintheEasternDistrictofNewYorkandelsewhere.families.2.LaCosaNostraoperatedthroughorganizedcrimeFiveofthesecrimefamilies-theBonanno,Colombo,Gambino,GenoveseandLuchesecrimefamilies-wereheadquarteredinNewYorkCity,andsupervisedcriminalactivityinNewYork,inotherareasoftheUnitedStatesand,insomeinstances,inothercountries.Anothercrlmefamily,theDecalvacantecrimefamily,operatedprincipallyinNewJersey,butfromtimetotimealsoinNewYorkCity.3.TherulingbodyofLaCosaNostra,knownasthe"Commission,"consistedofleadersfromeachofthecrimefamilies.TheCommissionconvenedfromtimetotimetodecidecertainissuesaffectingallofthecrimefamilies,suchasrulesgoverningcrime·familymembership.4.TheGenovesecrimefamilyhadahierarchyandstructure.TheheadoftheGenovesecrimefamilywasknownasthe"boss."TheGenovesecrimefamilybosswasassistedbyan

"underboss"andacounselorknownasa"consigliere."Together,theboss,underbossandconsiglierewerethecrimefamily's"administration."withtheassistanceoftheunderbossandconsigliere,thebosswasresponsiblefor,amongotherthings,settingpolicyandresolvingdisputeswithinandbetweenLaCosaNostracrimefamiliesandothercriminalgroups.Theadministrationfurthersupervised,supported,protectedanddisciplinedthelower-rankingparticipantsinthecrimefamily.Inreturnfortheirsupervisionandprotection,theadministrationreceivedpartoftheillegalearningsgeneratedbythecrimefamily.MembersoftheGenovesecrimefamilyservedinan"acting"ratherthan"official/lcapacityintheadministrationonoccasionduetoanotheradministrationmember'sincarcerationorillhealth,orforthepurposeofseekingtoinsulateanotheradministrationmemberfromlawenforcementscrutiny.Further,onoccasion,theGenovesecrimefamilywasoverseenbya"panel"ofcrimefamilymembersthatdidnotincludetheboss,underbossand/orconsigliere.5.BelowtheadministrationoftheGenovesecrimefamilywerenumerous"crews,"alsoknownas"regimes"and"decinas."Eachcrewwasheadedbya"captain,"alsoknownasa"skipper,""caporegime"and"capodecina./IEachcaptain'screwconsistedof"soldiers"and"associates."Thecaptainwasresponsibleforsupervisingthecriminalactivitiesofhiscrew
