The most important thing to decide before you even start marketing yourwebsite is what exactly are you going to market it FOR?This section deals with finding the right keywords and phrases and how toincorporate them into your site in a way that will help the search engines knowwhat to do with you. —oOo—
Tip #1 - Singles night
Let’s face it; single word optimisation just doesn’t work anymore unless youhave masses of time or money to throw at it.Unfortunately the time has passed when you could get to number one inGoogle or anywhere for a single word search. So stop trying to optimise for ‘cars’ or ‘money’ or ‘business’ – it’s not going tohappen. And even if by some miracle it does, it really won’t do you any good. It’s toogeneric. If I search for ‘business’ I could be searching for networking, or accountants,or business advice. If you rent out offices in London, then you’re not what I’mlooking for.So STOP optimising for single words and start thinking in terms of keyPHRASES not keywords. —oOo—
Work it out
Right now, take a piece of paper and a pen. Split it into two halves - one halfheaded "Where" and the other "What".In the "Where" part, write down the areas in which you work - e.g. Leicester,Milton Keynes, Northampton, Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire.
