Safari Planning Guide

Having guided hundreds of people on safari in the African bush, I figured that it was worth compiling a safari-planning guide that hopefully provides some answers to the questions that I am most frequently asked by people who are considering an African safari. I’ve based this book on the most common questions that I have been asked over the years. After all what better a reference point could one have than the questions that have been asked by others who were planning an African Safari.

In putting together the second edition of this safari-planning guide, my aim is not only to update the information provided but also add more detailed answers to some of the particular questions that I have been asked since African safari planning was first published. I’ve also added a few comments of my own and stories from safaris, which I hope you’ll enjoy.

My love of Africa started on my first visit in 1980. In turn that lead to my becoming involved with African wildlife conservation, moving from the UK to South Africa and subsequently starting my own safari company - On Track Safaris.

On Track Safaris aims to raise money for our work in conservation, as I believe that tourism and conservation must work hand in hand. Without one there can’t be the other.

But it is not my aim for this guidebook to be a sales brochure for my safaris, but rather to provide you with sufficient information to make a reasoned decision when choosing your African Safari.
