Crowdsourcing
 –
A Powerful SEO Weapon
April 22nd, 2012

For those who are not familiar with the term crowdsourcing, it is when agroup of people, small or large, contributes to a single project you areworking on. That is a basic concept, but in theSEO world crowdsourcing can be used for many purposes. The most common usefor online marketers and bloggers is content creation.Sometimes we will use crowdsourcing to get data, for feedback, ideasand most often we will use it for our content, and this is a powerfulweapon however you use it. I personally use it for all of the above, usingTwitter and other social networks and sometimes even directlycontacting people whose opinion I think matters.
Let’s talk about the power of crowdsourcing for promotion and SEO
purposes. The easiest way to go about it is to create a themed post. You
think of a basic idea, if you don’t know what, just look for the current

buzz, in the SEO world that would be over-optimisation and outing, so just based on those two I could create a great number of questions that Iwould send to people I want or publicize it on any of the social networksI am active and wait for a response.
You don’t need to have hundred questions, few good ones are more thanenough, and there isn’t a topic where you can’t find 5 hot questions to
ask experts and other interested parties. So what do you get from this?- You get great content for your website- You get some authorities in the field writing for you website- Wider exposure- More social interaction- Links and mentions- BrandingThat sounds great right, and it is. First of it is very easy for anyone togive 2-
3 simple answers, doesn’t take too much time so most people like
to participate in crowdsourcing post formats. If you pitch directly tosome great minds in your field there is a great chance some of them willrespond, especially if your questions are the current buzz. You can justas well publish your questions on twitter or just promote the link whereyou posted your questions. The rest is easy to guess, since you will have 10-20 or 50 peopleresponding to your questions you will automatically get more tweets, likes, shares of any kind and wider exposure.
