Character #3 Name: Nathan Matthews; a 19 year old who was friends with Jack in school.

He found Jack when he first came to fight, and they fought together until the British set out the law that made a lot of people support the loyalist. At this point, Nathan was Jacks only friend in the war. His father being one of these new loyalists, made him come fight when him in the war for the British. After the victory at the battle of Guilford Courthouse, Jack found that he had shot and killed his old friend. This demonstrates some of the effects of war, and a theme of tragedy and death.
