ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

Presented By:G.Sai Sudha CH.Sukanya

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the area of computer science focusing on creating machines that can engage on behaviors that humans consider intelligent Artificial Intelligence is a combination of computer science, physiology, and philosophy.

What is Artificial Intelligence (AI)?

History of AI
1941: First electronic computer (technology finally available ) 1956: Term Artificial Intelligence introduced 1960s: Checkers-playing program that was able to play games with opponents 1980s: Quality Control Systems 2000: First sophisticated walking robot

Understanding AI
BIG Philosophy:
CAN MACHINES REALLY THINK?
Can it act intelligently? Can it solve problems by thinking? Can it have a Can it feel? Human Intelligence vs. machine intelligence? Is the human brain

Fields of AI
Computer Science Math Psychology Cognition Biology Concept Mining Data Mining Robotics Philosophy etc.

Two Basic Approaches: 1.Bottom-up Approach{Neural Networks}

A signal received by a neuron travel through the dendrite region, and down the axon.Separating nerve cells is a gap called the synapse. In order for the signal to be transferred to the next neuron, the signal must be converted from electrical to chemical energy. The signal can then be received by the next neuron and processed.

Approaches To AI

2.Top-down Approach {Expert Systems}

Expert systems had the potential to interpret statistics, in order to formulate rules. An expert system works much like a detective solves a mystery. Using the information, and logic or rules, an expert system can solve the problem.

I.In Robotics: 1.Agriculture

Applications Of AI

Robots can do the work that took a dozen harvesters to do at the same time. Robots are used for harvesting, reaping and sowing purposes. They are sometimes called, Agrobots. 2.Manufacturing Probably the industry which uses robots the most. Robots are useful in repetitive tasks and also work for longer durations without breaks. 3.Domestic Use 4.Military Defense 5.Recreational/Social Use

Robots take over the world?

Step 1: Manufacturing
-Robots have already begun to replace factory workers

Step 2: Service jobs

-Robots at McDonalds

Step 3: ???
-Robots take over the world?

II.In Games
1.Chess AI-based game playing programs combine intelligence with entertainment. On game with strong AI ties is chess. World-champion chess playing programs can see ahead twenty plus moves in advance for each move they make.

2.Computer Games
Graphics AI Design Techniques control theory, robotics, computer graphics, and computer science.

X BOX 360

Non-Play Characters (NPCs) can behave in realistic ways

Efficient use of Teamwork The ability to hunt Survival Instincts

Future of Artificial Intelligence

In 10 years AI will be able to communicate with humans in unstructured English using text or voice, navigate (not perfectly) in an unprepared environment and will have some rudimentary common sense .There will be an increasing number of practical applications based on digitally recreated aspects human intelligence, such as cognition, perception, rehearsal learning, or learning by repetitive practice.
