Are You Reducing your Child's Test Anxiety?
Some kids get butterflies in their stomachs before a test. But others go into full-blown panic. Answer yes or no to the questionsbelow to see if you are helping your child overcome test anxiety:___1. Have you told your child that tests are a fact of life and you will help her work on her test anxiety? ___2. Have you talked with your child’s teacher about ways to reduce test anxiety?___3. Do you help your child imagine herself as a relaxed and successful test taker? “Imagine yourself walking intoclass. The teacher hands you the test. You look at the first question and know the answer right away.”___4. Have you talked with your child about your expectations? She knows that your love for her doesn’t depend on atest score. ___5. Do you encourage your child to wear comfortable clothing and bring extra pencils on test day?___6. Do you make sure your child has had a healthy breakfast?___7. Do you make sure your child has had a good night's sleep? How well are you doing? Each yes will help your child overcome test anxiety. For no answers, try those ideas in the quiz.

Propellers
Do you wonder how to connect better with your children? Do you wonder what matters to them, and how you can assist themto grow up to be healthy, caring and responsible citizens? I encourage you to try a "propeller" - a question intended to sparkconversations with your children. Try it around the dinner table tonight!
This week's propeller: Do you feel motivated to do well in school? If no, what would help you feel more motivated?
