TO GAIN ACCESS TO THE VALET SWITCH (VIA THE BACK SEAT)
1. REMOVE THE REAR SEAT BASE.
1.1 REMOVE THE TWO BOLTS ON THE VERTICAL FACE OF THE SEAT BASE (WHERE YOU CALVES WOULD BE IF YOU SAT IN THE BACK SEAT)
1.2 STANDING IN THE REAR FOOT-WELL, HOLD ONTO THE FRONT EDGE OF THE SEAT BASE - ONE SIDE AT A TIME, IN-LINE WITH THE BOLT YOU JUST REMOVED,
GIVE A SHORT HARD TUG UPWARDS - THE SEAT BASE SHOULD UNCLIP FROM IT'S BARB
1.3 REMOVE THE SEAT BASE (TAKE CARE OF THE SEAT BELT CLASPS POKING THROUGH)
2. REMOVE THE SEAT 'BACK'
2.1 REMOVE THE TWO BOLTS BELOW THE SEAT BACK, INLINE WITH THE SEAT BELTS
2.2 HOLDING UNDERNEATH THE SEAT BACK, LIFT TO SEPARATE THE SEAT BACK FROM IT'S UPPER (HOOK) MOUNTINGS
2.3 SLIDE THE SEAT BACK FROM BEHIND THE SEAT BELTS
3. FOLD THE NVH MATERIAL FROM THE REAR BULKHEAD UP ON THE THE PARCEL SHELF, OR REMOVE COMPLETELTY
4. REMOVE THE REAR BULKHEAD ACCESS PANEL - ABOUT 10 FIXINGS
5. FEED SOME 15MM COPPER TUBE (PLUMBING TYPE) THROUGH THE MISH-MASH OF WIRING AND ECUS. YOU'RE AIMING TO PASS THIS THROUGH IN THE CENTRE OF THE VEHICLE
5.1 IF THE BOOT HAS A PIECE OF TRIM HIDING THE BATTERY, THIS IS WHERE THE DESTRUCTION PART HAPPENS. YOU NEED TO PIERCE THE TRIM PANEL
(NOT VERY STRONG, BUT ENOUGH TO AGGREVATE YOU)
YOU NEED TO PIERCE THE PANEL AT ABOUT HALF WAY DOWN…TOO HIGH OR LOW AND YOU WON’T BE ABLE TO ARTICULATE THE TUBE SUFFICENTLY
SO MAY HAVE TO BEND IT)
6. USING A TORCH, SHINE A LIGHT DOWN THE INSIDE OF THE TUBE AND TRY TO FIND THE VALET SWITCH……IT'S A BIT TRICKY
7. FLICK THE SWITCH TO THE UPMOST POSITION
8. HOLDING THE TUBE IN PLACE, PULL (JIGGLE) THE RELEASE LEVER AND THE BOOT LID WILL POP UP EVENTUALLY, IF YOU'VE ACTUATED THE SWITCH SUFFICENTLY
TO GAIN ACCESS TO THE VALET SWITCH (VIA THE REAR OF THE CAR) - ONLY TRY THIS IF ALL ELSE FAILS)
I'VE NEVER TRIED THIS APPROACH MYSELF, BUT CAN'T SEE WHY IT WOULDN’T WORK.
1. TAKE A LONG DRILL BIT, DRILL THROUGH THE 'SKYLINE' FINISHER AND THE BODY (AS SHOWN ABOVE) UNTIL YOU ACCESS THE LATCH AREA
2. MAKE A SUITABLE TOOL TO ACCESS THE VALET SWITCH , WHICH SHOULD BE BELOW THE HOLE YOU'VE JUST DRILLED
AFTERWARDS, PLUG THE HOLE IN THE BODY AND BUY A REPLACEMENT FINISHER ON EBAY
