Tolerance and understanding are still worthwhile goals; the concepts of peace written here are quite eloquent and powerful. It is a very engrossing and inspiring read.
Not all, you're right. I think is some cultural or educational thing, maybe. Here is more tolerant, but far away from ideal.
It is interesting to read that the Scouts are meant to "...regard all men as brothers, sons of the one Father, among whom happiness can be brought only through the development of mutual tolerance and goodwill...". Tolerance is not always what springs to mind when I think of the Boy Scout Organization.
