Jim D. Bellis Family 12th Production Sale
Sunday, May 6, 2012 • 1 p.m. • Owen Bros. Cattle Co. Sale Facility
Te Bellis Program — Dedicated to Producing “NO EXCUSE HEREFORDS!”
Welcome to our special event on May 6, 2012.
We are excited to again bring our best to you in our annual production sale. Te successo our cattle or their new owners continues to be extremely rewarding. Te cattle purchasedin past sales are producing cal crops o the “new” Hereords that are in much demandtoday. We are grateul to our riends and customers or their support o our past sales. We believe the cattle in this ofering will surpass the quality o our past sales. We continueto be stubborn in our mating choices and herd culling, always keeping real world, practicalperormance in mind. Selling are emales and herd sire prospects that lead the breed ortheir EPDs. While matings in our herd are made by “watching the numbers,” it has beenun to see our herd’s produce go on and win showring competitions. We believe that withthe addition o some select matings through embryo transer, we’ve been able to reach evenurther strides in producing EPD cattle that are competitive in the showring. We are boldenough again this year to print the EPD graphs or all the younger cattle as proo o oureforts to “get all the numbers right.”In this catalog, we generally have rerained rom glowing praises on the yearling cattleand calves. Instead o repeating what we hope is obvious rom the EPD data, we haveprinted the EPD graphs which paint an excellent total picture better than any words coulddo. Although the graphs are small, keep in mind that the line in the middle o the graphrepresents breed average. Perhaps too simplistic but most generally true, anything to theright o that center line is better than breed average and anything thing on the let o thatline is lower than breed average. Te numbers at the bottom detail the exact percentile rank or each o the traits. We invite you to study the data on this set o cattle. We hope it is obvious what ourgoals have been as we’ve embraced the slogan “No Excuse Hereords.” Do your homework and then compare this herd. We invite you to take advantage o our almost 40 years o stubborn, purposeul breeding.God continues to be very good to Carla and me. We will always be thankul or grace. We hope to see you on May 6. Jim D. Bellis and Family
