Shareagift.com goes free to become the future of personal fund-raising

nt tragedy of Claire Squires’ death during the London Marathon, Shareagift’s
announcement is aptly timed. There is a rising sentiment that models like JustGivingare profiteering, and more and more people are looking for alternative fund-raisingsolutions
that don’t skim profit from the donations.
JustGiving charge charities £15 / month for membership and take a 5% cut of eachdonation. Last year their income for £14m. As of today, Shareagift.com charges
admin fees on donations and the only fees involved are transaction fees
deducted by PayPal, Shareagift’s secure payment provider, when the user collects
The rise of personal fund-raising
Shareagift has seen the site used for some fantastic causes offering a perfectsolution for people raising money for small, personal causes, not just big charities. AGift Page was recently set up on the site by a company to raise money for a holidayof a lifetime for a colleague who is terminally ill. The Gift Page(www.shareagift.com/giftpageforeamonnmartin1)has received 82 contributions,
raising over £5,500 to date.
