3. Turn the head to the side. Heimlichs are going to follow. Turning the head to the side helps to evacuate the vomit and to keep it off of the victim and the rescuer.

4. Five Heimlichs In 60% of the cases, the Heimlich gets the
submersion victim back. If 5 don’t work, go to the next step. Our experience shows that doing 5 Heimlichs delays the first breath between 4 and 6 seconds on the average.
