Chris Carr, Ph.D., HSPP
Dr. Carr is the Sport and Perormance Psychologist and Training Coordinator or Perormance Psychology in the Depart-ment o Neuropsychology at the Indiana Neuroscience Institute in Indianapolis, Indiana., Dr. Carr coordinates training,supervision, research, and applied practice in the area o perormance psychology.This unique program addresses “elite” perormance issues in areas such as sports/athletics, perorming arts, highperormance occupations (e.g. police/fre), business perormance, and positive psychology applications. He also providesindividual counseling and consultation services; he is a licensed psychologist in the state o Indiana and is HSPP-en-dorsed. He is currently the consulting sport psychologist or both the Purdue University Athletic Department (since 2002)and Indiana University Athletic Department (beginning 2005). He was recently named as the Director o Sport Psychologyand National Team Sport Psychologist or USA Diving, and was with the team at the 2005 World Championships inMontreal, where they won 3 medals. He is also the Team Sport Psychologist or the Indiana Fever (WNBA) since 2002.Prior to joining INI, Dr. Carr was the Sport/Perormance Psychologist at the Methodist Sports Medicine Center, and hadbeen (1995-2000) the Sport Psychologist or The Ohio State University Sports Medicine Center.Dr. Carr was recently elected as the President-Elect or Division 47 (Exercise and Sport Psychology) o the AmericanPsychological Association and will serve on the Executive Committee until 2009. He is also on the United States Olym-pic Committee Registry o Sport Psychology Providers based at the United States Olympic Training Center in ColoradoSprings, Colorado. He spent 6 years (1999-2005) as the Sport Psychologist or the Kansas City Royal Baseball Club. Dr.Carr also served or ten years (1992-2002) as the Sport Psychologist or the United States Men’s Alpine Ski Team basedin Park City, Utah and was the team psychologist or the US Men’s Alpine Olympic Ski Team during the 2002 WinterOlympic Games in Salt Lake City, Utah.He was (2004-06) on the National Advisory Board or the Citizenship Through Sport Alliance (CTSA) “Report Card on YouthSport”, which presented their nationwide “report card on youth sports” in November o 2005.He was a Perormance Psychology Consultant with the United States Navy and worked with the Naval Air Station inPensacola, Florida rom 1997-2001. He was the Team Psychologist or the Columbus Crew (1995-2000); he hasconsulted with other Olympic Sports Organizations, Major League Baseball, and the Championship Auto Racing Teams.Dr. Carr has a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology with a minor in Exercise Science/Sport Psychology rom Ball State Universityin Muncie, Indiana. He spent one year as a Clinical Research Assistant in Sport Psychology at the United States OlympicTraining Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where he worked with elite-level athletes and coaches prior to the 1992Olympic Games. Prior to coming to Ohio State in 1995, he was the Sport Psychologist or Counseling and Consultationat Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona; he was also the Team Counselor or the Arizona Cardinals o the NationalFootball League. Beore 1994, Dr Carr was the Psychologist or Athletics at Washington State University in Pullman,Washington.He received his B.A. in Psychology rom Wabash College and his M.A. in Counseling Psychology rom Ball State University.Dr. Carr lives in Westfeld, Indiana with his wie Kelli and daughter Rachel.
