RULES REGULATIONS & GUIDLINES
BEFORE YOU START BUILDING YOUR SOAP- BOX PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWINGCAREFULLY AS FAILURE TO FOLLOW GUIDELINES MAY RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION
Only members & families of the above club & affiliated clubs will be able to take part in this event. Theidea of this event is for everyone to have fun safely, in the building of the Soap Box & in participating in theevent.This event will be run
OFF ROAD on a rough grass surface
& will be a timed event.The run will be for Juniors aged from 12 to 16, & Seniors aged over16. The event will be run as a“knockout” competition over a series of heats with the fastest times going forward to the next heat. Theteam will consist of a pusher & driver, and each entrant may alternate “Driving & Pushing” in consecutiveheats if they wish. There will be a maximum of Two Soap Boxes in each heat.There should be no contact between competing Soap Boxes. Any contact may result in disqualification, if in the opinion of the marshals it was considered to be deliberate.
YOUR GUIDE TO THE SOAP - BOX CONSTRUCTION
THE RULES FOR THIS EVENT ARE MANDATORY AND FORM PART OF THECONDITIONS OF ENTRY
1:
Wood should be the major material of the chassis & body construction.
2:
Metal will only be allowed in the running gear (wheels, axles & steering) if rear wheels have spokesthey need to be covered in to avoid trapping of digits.
3:
Soap-Box must be capable of being steered.
4:
 No totally steel chassis / body will be permitted.
5:
Covers/body may be attached to the chassis, but should be made of a soft material, (cardboard /soft plastics) avoid the use any metal or fibreglass, hard plastics etc.
6:
Any cover/body must be firmly attached to the Soap-Box & considered to be safe on inspection. noexposed sharp corners or edges will be permitted.
7:
The fitting of brakes is not compulsory, but strongly advised.
8:
The Soap Box should be made strong enough to withstand several runs of the designated
OFF ROAD,
on grass course.
9:
Soap Boxes are to have a minimum of three wheels & a maximum of six wheels.
10:
Soap Boxes can be made smaller than the maximum dimensions.
11:
The course will consist of a downhill section only, and the Soap Box may be pushed for part or all of the initial 30 metres of the course. Remember a suitable attachment should be provided for this.
12:
Drivers must remain seated at all times during the event, & seats must be securely attached to the SoapBox
13:
All Soap Boxes will be subjected to a thorough scrutiny for suitability to take part, before being given acompetition entry Number.
14:
The competition entry number must be prominently displayed on the Soap Box
15:
The driver must remain in contact with the soap box at
ALL TIMES DURING THE RACE.
