Description

This document provides some background information on Mormon origins and denominations. Subsequently, it shows that Transhumanism is compatible with at least some religious forms, as illustrated by parallels between basic Transhumanist ideas and an authentic interpretation of Mormon metaphysics, theodicy, eschatology and soteriology. Finally, it uses these parallels as a basis from which to launch analysis of the relative compatibility of other religious forms, such as Christianity, with Transhumanism. Lincoln Cannon first presented these ideas at conferences in Second Life on 29 April 2007 at the Seminar on Transhumanism and Religion, and on 30 March 2008 for Second Life Transhumanists.
