Micah Ford3/16/2012Audience: My Peers
Process Preface

I choose ‘Look What You Done” for my text because it is truly a powerful and meaningful song.
It portrays the values of how having a supportive family can truly shape your future. It took mea while to come up with a line of inquiry without it being too straightforward and to the point. Ibrainstormed many ideas and put them into a chart until I decided which an accurate depictionof my ideas was and what my paper would be about. After I came up with the line of inquiryfinding the support was pretty easy because I just had to research my artist and the lyrics. Afterthe group conference it helped me get a better understanding of how I should write my line of inquiry and where it should be placed within the project. The peer review session was prettyhelpful. I received a lot of positive feedback and had already shaped my ideas into a pretty wellwritten paper. After writing this paper I feel like my overall research and in-depth analysis of the song has formed a pretty accurate paper that clearly conveys my ideas about the song. Finally with writing the RAP I have learned that it is pretty easy for me to depict song lyrics anddescribe there meaning.

The Turning Point
“Look What You Done” by Aubrey Drake Graham better known as Drake is an influential
so
ng that can relate to most youth in today’s society. With teens already having problems with
facing the hardships of fitting into the American society stereotype it is hard to grow up stable.Because you face so much within your teen years it can really make or break your life. The song
explores the relationships between different family members within Drake’s life whom affected
his whole turn out in life.Aubrey Drake Graham was raised only by his mother in Toronto, Canada since he was just five because his parents got divorced. ( " Drake." 2012. Biography.com 16 Mar 2012)Sometimes, he spent summers with his father in Memphis. He had started writing songs at thetender age of ten but, he began his career in the showbiz industry as a small screen actor.Drake made his debut on Billboard Hot 100 through "Best I Ever Had", the single in "So FarGone". Having no featured guest on the hook, this track climbed to number 18 on the U.S.singles chart. Drake’s
sound as an artist is very unique because not only are his

creations witty but they can also relate to any youth’s lifestyle. His combination of rapping and
singing make him a special talent that anyone can listen to and actually feel relatable to. Hespeaks on real life issues such as relationship problems, inner struggles, and family like within
the song I’ve chosen “Look What You Done.”
I want to explore what is truly the main purpose of this this song and why it is so relatable.
As the bulk of Drake’s genre is rap and rhythm and blues his audience consists of ateenage audience. “Look What You Done” can really express the feelings of how many teens
are thankful for what some family member has done for them that they still remember and arethankful for. Each verse within the musical piece discusses a different family member and he
explains events that happened with each family member. Drake’s family is his drive to create
music and he explains how each family member helped shaped him and pushed him to workhard. The ideal concept of the song is that everyone needs that supportive backbone from theirfamily even if that support is not always shown in a positive manner.
Drake’s first verse in this
piece is addressed to his mother and the many hardships and
problems they face. The first verse of the song begins with “It's like '09 in your basement and
I'm in love with Nebbie and I still love her but it fell through because I wasn't ready and yourback hurt, and your neck hurt, and you smoking heavy and I sit next to you, and I lecture you
'cause those are deadly.”
(Drake.2012, http://www.directlyrics.com/drake-look-what-youve-done-lyrics.html)Within these few words Drake is discussing how his mother Sandi Graham hadbeen dealing with a condition that was slowly withering the bone that was connecting her neckand her spine. Because of the pains she was facing she decided to use cigarettes as a coping
