UPDATE: FRIDAY MAY 4TH 2012News from
CITY ENGINEERING
andPEOPLE ON THE STREET!

CITY ENGINEERINGkindly replied to my emailed suggestion and said
1. “The BicycleDutch design has been a source of several designdiscussions amongst staff. We are interested in the general principles of the design.”2. “For Yukon Street, we have concerns overa. the limitation of intersection spaceb. challenges due to the slopec. compliance of the design, andd. general public understanding of the new pavement markings.”3. ‘We will be installing bike lanes on Yukon Street next week.’

PEOPLE ON THE STREETkindly took the time to chat with me* and said
1. Yes, we definitely need two crosswalks, north and south2. Why not just pay the money and install:a. a four-way stop?b. a cyclist-activated stop light?c. a turning circle?3. I understand it now you’ve shown me, but new drivers might beconfused by all your painted lines and stop in the wrong place.
