theyarepractisedaccordingtotheinstructionsthatprecedeeachstudy.Alltheexercisesinthisbookareplayable,andnotverydifficult,ifpractisedslowlyatfirstandnotfortoolongatime.Ihaveusedtheminmydai1ypracticeforyearsandtheyhavebeenthemeansofmyreachingthehighestnotesaf-terplayingatwohourconcertandalsoofpreservingmylipssothattheynevertire.Whathasbeenahelptomeshouldsurelybeofbenefittoothercornetplayers.Onecannotexpecttoattainthehighestpointofexcellencewithouthardworkandperseverance.Neverbeperfectlysatisfiedwithyourself.Trytoimprovetosomeex-tenteachdayandtoexperiencethatsatisfyingpleasureinhavingconqueredwhatatfirstseemedanimpossibility.Correcttheleastmistakeyoumakeimmediately.Badhabitsareeasilyformedanddifficulttoremedy.Tobecomeanexpertonthecornet,oneshouldfamiliarizehimselfwithasmuchmaterialforthisinstrumentaspossible.Inthiswayasubstantialmusicalbackgroundisassimilatedandmuchinformationandknowledgeisgained.Therearefewcelebratedcornetsoloists,althoughthousandsplaytheinstrument.Mostplayerspracticeincorrectlyandbyneglectingtheelementarywork,losemanyofthebenefitstohegained.Thethirdbookofthisseriesisdevotedtocharacteristicstudiesofeveryde-scription.Whileslightlymoredifficult,themelodiouselementhasnotbeenoverlookedandthe
