THE FIRST SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST

THE HOLY TRINITY

June 3 and 4, 2007

Welcome to our worship service. We consider it a privilege to have you worship with us
today. May the Holy Spirit direct all of us into a life of Christian faithfulness and service.
Please sign the friendship register during the offering.

PRAYER BEFORE WORSHIP: Lord, we come to your house to hear your Word and sing
your praises. Send your Holy Spirit that our hearts may be opened to confess our sins,
believe in Jesus as our Savior and grow in our Christian faith day by day. Hear us for
Jesus’ sake. Amen.

THOUGHT OF THE DAY: The Triune God is the one, true God, and he works to bring peace,
hope, and salvation to all. We rejoice in the many, many blessings that are ours through
the work of God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Confession and Absolution

M: Let us come before the Lord and confess our sins.

C: O almighty God, merciful Father, I, a poor, miserable sinner, confess to you

all my sins and iniquities with which I have ever offended you and justly
deserved your punishment, now and forever. But I am heartily sorry for
them and sincerely repent of them, and I pray you of your boundless mercy
and for the sake of the holy, innocent, bitter sufferings and death of your
beloved Son, Jesus Christ, to be gracious and merciful to me, a poor sinful
being.
M: Upon this your confession, I, as a called and ordained servant of the Word, announce the
grace of God to all of you, and in the stead and by the command of our Lord Jesus Christ I
forgive you all your sins, in the name of the Father and of the Son (+) and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
M: In the peace of forgiveness, let us praise the Lord.

NUMBERS 6:22-27
The LORD said to Moses, “Tell Aaron and his sons, ‘This is how you are to bless the
Israelites. Say to them:
““‘The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine upon you and be
gracious to you; the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace.”’
“So they will put my name on the Israelites, and I will bless them.”
ROMANS 5:1-5
Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through
our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in
which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we
also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance;
perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because
God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.

JOHN 16:12-15
“I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. But when he, the Spirit
of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak
only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will bring glory to me by
taking from what is mine and making it known to you. All that belongs to the Father is
mine. That is why I said the Spirit will take from what is mine and make it known to you.”
