the River of gold

The Sun Koshi or River of Gold is the longest trip in river miles offered in Nepal and rated as one of the top ten river expeditions in the world. Starting in Dolaghat, three hours from the Tibetan border, the river drains off some of the highest mountains in the world. We will travel 270km south-east ending in Chatra where the Sun Koshi emerges into the Ganges. A journey down this large water volume river impresses any rafting or kayak enthusiast with relaxing canyons, refreshing waterfalls, bat caves, interesting temples and beautiful white sandy beaches where we set up camp and explore. Of course there is plenty of whitewater here too, with a fantastic variety of adrenalin filled class 3 - class 5 rapids combined with many mild to flat sections in between to catch your breath and enjoy the scenery. All of Paddle Nepals raft guides and safety kayakers are trained to international standards in first aid, CPR and WRT. Our absolute best guides are ready to take you on the trip of a lifetime. Advanced whitewater kayakers are invited to join our safety team and paddle along any of our scheduled rafting trips. Put-In: Dolaghat (3 hours private bus from Kathmandu) Take-Out: Chatra (18 hours private bus back to Kathmandu - ask us about flight options!) Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner daily (except no Breakfast on 1st day and no Dinner on last day) Accommodation: 9 nights Beach Camping / 1 night tea house River Grade: 3 - 4+ Season: Sep - May
