Pubihed BiWeek Net Iue: M 22Dedine: M 15“HE HUNER”
Te Jet and I have been hanging out together or nearly threeyears now. For most o this time we have been very, very regularin our walks through the woods. Also, during this period, TeJet has been a regular visitor to the oce, so I have had anopportunity to observe him in very dierent circumstances. When hunting in the woods, Te Jet, relies almost entirely onhis nose, keeping his head to the ground and seldom lookingaround (just like the missus). Tis is one reason why he missedseeing a bunny rabbit tearing down the woods road the otherday, although he did pick up the scent as we arrived at thatspot on the road. His success in hunting partridge is terrible. In almost every case, he saunters along with nose to the grounduntil without warning the bird takes ight, oen without himeven noticing.Te one animal that Te Jet regularly pursues are the squirrels!!Te problem, is his pursuit looks more like a 649 Happy Danceand the whole event appears more like a “Hey!! Come back hereand play with me!!”In conclusion, i Te Jet and I are ever stuck out in the woodsor a week or two, our only hope o survival will be my huntingskills and not his.Out side o the woods, however, Te Jet is absolutely awesomeas a “Domestic Hunter”. He has sta at the oce virtually liningup to give him treats. A visit to Grammy usually scores a doggy treat and an apple. Te reason or his success in domestichunting, versus his woods hunting is that he uses his eyesinstead o his nose!! Sitting quietly, while staring at victims withbig brown eyes is a sure re way toscore treats rom all but the mostheartless human, such as mysel.So we have made a deal, when in thewoods I will do the hunting or botho us, but i we are ever penniless onthe streets o Hampton, he will takeover all o the hunting duties. I amexpecting that with our combinedskills, that neither o us will miss toomany meals!!
