Fabric inspection systems-types of fabric defects (woven andknits)-Grading of fabrics and its usage
Inspection in reference to the apparel industry
can be defined as the visual examination or
review of raw materials (such as fabric, buttons, zippers, sewing threads, trims etc,),
partially finished components of the garments
and completely finished garments in relationto some standards, specifications, or
requirements, as well as measuring the
garments to check if they meet the requiredmeasurements.
Principle of Inspection
The principle involved in inspection is the earlydetection of defects, feedback of this informationto the appropriate people, and determination of the cause, ultimately resulting in the correction of the problem.
The main objective of inspection is the detectionof the defects and
as early aspossible in the manufacturing process so thattime and money are not wasted later on in eithercorrecting the defect or writing off defectivegarments.
