Under neath, another black-andwhite photograph features thousands of people gathered in front of the Lincoln Jim Wallace memorial to hear Martin Luther King Jr. speak about his dream for America. These stark images of a Klan rally and the 1963 March on Washington and many other unpublished images appear in Courage in the Moment: The Civil Rights Struggle, 1961-1964, a collection of 100 photos of the civil rights movement in Chapel Hill. They were shot by Jim Wallace when he was a photographer at The Daily Tar Heel. Most of the photos featured in the cof feetable book are previously unpublished. In the early 1960s, the small, fourpaged DTH, which was often packed with other newswor thy stories having nothing to do with civil rights, left Wallace with extra photos.
