01 How to fix the Acer Aspire One black screen problem - flash the BIOS http://www.LowEndGuru.

com This video tutorial shows you how to fix the "black screen of death" problem of the Acer Aspire One netbook. This is a very common problem with this netbook since it was released to the market with a defective BIOS software that can eventually fail and needs to be upgraded. This problem is so common, that the manufacturer decided to post the solution on the FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) of his site. Notice that the instructions in the official FAQ tells you to download the version 3309 of the BIOS, this will fix the problem, but I got the black screen again a couple of months after fixing it. My recommendation (as can be seen in the video) is to go get the latest BIOS version for your particular model of Acer Aspire One. These are the instructions according to ACER: "Create a recovery USB drive to update the Bios on the unit. The specific steps to perform this recovery with the USB drive are: 1. Download & Extract AS1_BIOS_3309.zip (found in http://support.acer.com/acerpanam/manuals/acer/0000/documents/AS1_BIOS_3309.zip) 2. Rename the Bios name from 3309.fd to zg5ia32.fd. 3. Copy zg5ia32.fd and Flashit.exe to USB flash drive. 4. Start the restoration process: A. Plug the AC Adapter into the unit. B. Insert the USB flash drive into a USB port. C. Press and Hold down the Fn and the Esc keys together. D. Keep these keys held down and press power. E. When the unit's power light comes on release the Fn and Esc keys. F. After the keys have been released the power light will start to blink. G. Let the unit run and after approximately 1-7 minutes, the unit should reboot. H. Video should now be restored. If these steps fail to resolve the no post, no video issue please contact Acer Technical Support." Thanks! I don't know what I'm going to do with my little AOA150, I have several laptops an IPad and an Android phone, but now that its working, I'll find some use for it. I'll also fix a few DVD burners whose doors wouldn't open right. I've got several that I didn't throw away because they seemed fixable. Saw your video and now I'll fix those and keep them as spares.

My AOA150 was sitting around collecting dust, no real use for it, so I decided to see how it ran using Netbuntu. I installed it on a USB flash drive and it ran pretty well. While playing around with it on the Netbuntu USB flash drive install, the netbook froze up. I pulled the drive and rebooted it, but got this black screen problem. I figured it was dead.
I came across your youtube post while trying to figure out how to open the case so I could salvage parts. Tried your method. SUCCESS!

I have an Aspire One D257 with the black screen problem. I tried the instructions of this video with no success, my first guess is that the BIOS are different for both models. So I downloaded the D257 BIOS from Acer Support, unzipped it and got two .exe, one named ZE6_115.exe and the other ZE6_115W.exe. I have tried all combinations of these executables and in many USB drives but my D257 doesn't recognize the usb and nothing happens, I get a blinking LED forever. Anyone know what should I do?

Thank u for the video but not working for me ...pressed fn and ESc and then power buttton but as i pressed button for long as to wait for power light blinking...the powers shuts down and again restarts...and even it wont recognized USB flash drive....I mean no flashing on USB flash drive too..plz help me:((

Have you had any problems with the charger not charging the battery, I'm thinking it may be the charging port, not sure, also I had everything installed all drivers etc now suddenly when I start it up it says in device manager there's 3 things called base system device..., Main problem is the thing not charging...

i have issue with my AOD257, initially it was not charging battery, updated the bios, now i can charge the battery but the battery time is not realistic, sometime it shows 7hrs remaining with 70% battery and sometime with 100% battery shows 4hrs remaining, and occasionally won't boot up after shutdown, only low battery light flashes & Silence, i have to take out batter and then put it back again, and then it will run smoothly, can any 1 help??

man.. for some reason i can't get my acer aspire one aoa150 to blink after pressing the power button while holding down fn and esc keys. as i press and hold the power button it will light up and while waiting for it to blink while holding it, it just turns off again.. any advise? thanks!

According to the acer tech, the problem could be a dead board. i would say buying a new one would be wiser that to get the old one fixed.

I have one of the black screen syndrome infected AOA150's. If it won't wake up with these excellent step-by-step instructions, it is dead beyond reparation :D This was the #1 hit with Google - so I hope you have a good deal with youtube to actually earn something with this one. Thanks! Oh, one thing. Judging by some of the comments, you should stress that this one does not necessarily work with all the Aspire One models!

i m not sure that this tutorial can help me.I prepare everything as it is in tutorial but i didnt try.
I have Acer aspire D260.Several time before happend to me that after sleep mode I open screen but screen stay black.I just restart on the main power button and it was ok.This time dont want to show picture black screen,BUT WHEN I CONNECT ON TV WITH WGA CABLE I HAVE PICTURE AND W7 AND EVERYTHING IS JUST FINE.What this could be.But my sisstem working just fine exept screen!?

Use a FAT32 or FAT16 formatted USB disk FLASHIT.EXE 3309.fd 3309.BAT rename 3309.fd to zg5ia32.fd edit 3309.BAT and change the entry to: flashit zg5ia32.fd /mc /all /dc Save the file files on usb stick should be FLASHIT.EXE zg5ia32.fd 3309.BAT

Little sister created the bios password, and a hard drive password, she does not remember it for the life of her. This thing is bricked, I have tried several different flash bios files, and it still won't do a thing, dismantled it, took out the cmos battery, and left it out 24 hours, discharged, held button 10 minutes, tried flashing with cmos batt in, and cmos batt out! and all the above, with no luck! AA1 D257 I need to find the onboard cmos to short it out, can anyone help? Thank you.

I have a Acer Aspire 7741Z-4543 notebook. I was in safe mode when it gave me the black screen of death. I have tried downloading the BIOS from Acer. Can't find the file that you was

talking about. I try just about every thing that I can to get my laptop back up. My grandkids need it to do their school project with. I can go into the setup utility. When I turn it on, it go to no further than the logo. Than I get the black screen with the blanking cursor. Please help me.

hi, i have ACER ASPIRE ONE D150... i downloaded the BIOS 1.13 version. i also changed the fd file to zg5ia32.fd... i both copied zg5ia32.fd and Flashit.exe to USB flash drive. i followed all the instructions, but the problem is, the power light doesn't blink. i've tried it like more than 20 times, but nothing happened. i also downloaded other versions of the Aspire one d150, but still the same... am i missing something? please help
