# If we feel honestly that some behavior is not sinful for us, yet it offends someone w ho is w eak in the faith, it w ould be better for us to forego the pleasure, as it says in the next verse.
4. For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that w e through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
# Hope of eternal life. And it cam e to pass exactly as it w as w ritten. Christ came and died for our sins, prov ing beyond a shadow of doubt that the Word of God is true, and this gives us positive hope for the eterni ty.
# Or, verse 5, let there be harmony am ong us as to Christ\u2019s teach ings, so w e may, verse 6, together glorify God. Note here God\u2019s patience is stressed. We are to be patient in our teach ing, so w e may all reach a total harmony.
9. And that the Gentiles might glorify God for His mercy; as it is w ritten, For this cause I w ill confess to Thee am ong the Gentiles, and sing unto Thy name.
# In other w ords, the Spirit of Jesus Christ w orking through Paul and other apostles gave them the belief in Christ that they might he filled w ith the hope of eternal life through Christ and the Holy Spirit.
14. And I myself also am persuaded of you, my brethren, that ye also are full of goodness, filled w ith all know ledge, able also to admonish one another.
15. Nevertheless, brethren, I have w ritten the more boldly unto you in som e sort, as putting you in mind, because of the grace that is given to me of God.
