 People with intrapersonal intelligence are intuitive and typically introverted.

They are skillful at deciphering their own feelings and motivations.

This refers to having a deep understanding of the self; what your strengths/ weaknesses are, what makes you unique, being able to predict your own reactions/emotions. Careers which suit those with this intelligence include philosophers, psychologists, theologians, lawyers, and writers. People with intrapersonal intelligence also prefer to work alone. -Howard Gardner, 1983

Campbell (1996) provide the following list of characteristics that may be possessed by a person with a highly developed intrapersonal intelligence.

Is aware of his range of emotions. Finds approaches and outlets to express his feelings and thoughts. Develops an accurate model of self. Establishes and lives by an ethical value system. Works independently. Is curious about the "big questions" in life: meaning, relevance, and purpose. Empowers others.

Intrapersonal intelligence entails the capacity to understand oneself, to appreciate one's feelings, fears and motivations. In Howard Gardner's view it involves having an effective working model of ourselves, and to be able to use such information to regulate our lives.
