We live at a time when most people are far from God, who reject or ignore the Bible, and who, generally speaking, live as they please. Even most of those who profess to be Christian have little or no understanding of the Word of God. How can we protect ourselves and our children if we continue to live like this? Television offers countless programmes for both adults and children which make the occult and the supernatural seem normal. But they are not normal! Halloween is one of many ways to access the supernatural, often unwittingly, and to entice people especially children to explore it more deeply. Anyone who truly cares about our youth and the next generation should be fully aware of the dangers of the occult, in all its forms, and take positive steps to eliminate it from their lives.

_____________________________ The word halloween means All Hallows Eve. This is the night before the feast in the traditional church calendar known as All Saints Day. Halloween expresses the fury and frenzy of the fallen demonic hoard who hate the salvation of souls. For this reason October 31st is a high sabbath in witchcraft, and often involves Satanic ritual abuse and even child sacrifice. Only three other days in the year are as important as Halloween for people who practice the occult. It celebrates the forces of darkness and the corruption of all that is good. So, when we mark Halloween in any way, for example by dressing up, holding parties or placing the symbols of halloween in our home, we are actually giving honour to the destructive supernatural forces which bring so much pain and unhappiness into the world. Halloween seems to be a happy time on the surface, but if we could see (and fully understand) the demonic forces behind it, we would not celebrate it or dignify it in any way. _____________________________ We should not dismiss these concerns by claiming that Halloween is only a bit of fun. Darkness attracts darkness and we blight our lives by associating with it in any way. There is a real connection between the forces that lead to suicide, addiction, depression and violence, and the huge fascination that we see today with the occult and the supernatural. Just like the umpteen movies and television programs on the supernatural that are now so popular, Halloween is nothing more than the clever use of entertainment to open our minds and our hearts to harmful occult influences. The LORD has asked that we avoid all activities of this kind. He did so to protect us, not to limit us. We should give serious thought to His warning and shield our children from all such influences.

When you come into the land which the LORD your God is giving you, you shall not learn to follow the abominations of those nations. There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire [known as Moloch worship], or one who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. For all who do these things are an abomination to the LORD, and because of these abominations the LORD your God drives them out from before you. You shall be blameless before the LORD your God.
