Dear Readers,We are delighted with the appreciation received from the readers of 'TheGujarat' and are thankful for the support and encouragement received from somany quarters. The 6th issue of The Gujarat – Gujarat Government's Englishquarterly magazine, like always, has a number of interesting and inspiringarticles. The Government of Gujarat has declared 2012 as 'Yuva Shakti Varsh' and thecover story of this issue focuses on the strength of youth in forging the country of our dreams ahead. Swami Vivekananda is, even today, one of India's mostcharismatic and inspirational thinkers. His words were relevant during his time, are relevant now and will continuebeing a source of inspiration in the future. The “Youth Sammelan” organised bythe Government of Gujarat on 12th January at the Mahatma Mandir saw one of the most beloved personalities of our country, former President Dr APJ AbdulKalam, talk to a sea of students who gathered for the event and encourage them topursue their dreams for the benefit of our state and country. We have a strong agenda of empowering the youth of the state as they aregoing to be the architects of tomorrow. “Act now” – said Swami Vivekananda, and Gujarat has made this its mantra for development. By establishingprofessional training institutes all over Gujarat, we aim to impart skill sets thatcan empower the youth of our state enabling them to work with their head heldhigh. We hope to encourage the zeal to succeed in every youth of the state and inturn, watch them inspire the rest of the country with their achievements.Over the past decade, Gujarat has seen an unprecedented growth and itsdevelopmental models are being studied and replicated in many parts of India andthe world. The article on the state annual budget 2012 – 13 would give you anunderstanding of the measures we have taken to sustain, as well as intensify, thisgrowth. The onset of summer brings the annual mega – agricultural event “KrishiMahotsav” followed by the state-wide school enrolment initiative 'KanyaKelavani and Shala Praveshotsav'. We hope to receive your support and blessings, like every year, to make these events a grand success.
