INTRODUCTION
1.ThisactionisbroughtbyPlaintiffsformerNationalFootballLeague
thelong-termchronicinjuries,
suffered
as
a
result
of
("NFL"or"League")playerswhoseekdamagesfor
financiallosses,expenses,andintangiblelossesthey
Defendants'wrongfulconductwithrespecttoconcussivebraininjuriessustainedby
PlaintiffsduringtheirNFLcareersandthesubsequentdamagingeffects.
2.Formanydecades,evidencehaslinkedinjuriestolong-termneurologicalproblemsinmany
of
theevidenceandthesubsequentdamagingeffects
concussive
brain
injuries;
however,
Defendantsdeliberatelyignored,misrepresented
and
activelyconcealed
the
information
from
Plaintiffs
and
all
others
who
participated
inorganizedfootball.
3.In1994,the
NFL
voluntarilyundertook
TraumaticBrain
Injury
Committee(the"MTBI")inanattempttoundermineexisting
scientificstudiesandevidencethatlinkedheadconcussionsreceivedbyNFLplayers
tolong-termneurologicalproblems.In1997,Riddellbecameapart
of
theMTBFs
project
of
assessingconcussionsandhealthconsequencestoNFLplayersby
analyzingandreconstructingheadimpacts.Thesestudieshavelargelycontradicted
over75years
of
weightedscientificevidence.
4.Simplyput,Defendantsnotonlyfailedtoinformplayers
of
thetruerisks
of
concussivebraininjuriesandthesubsequentdamagingeffects,butalsofraudulentlymisrepresentedandconcealedmedicalevidenceontheissuefrom
