by the Hon’ble chairman of Bar Council of
India, Shri Manan Kumar Mishra.
Members of the Bar Council of India along withChairmen, Vice-Chairmen or a nominee of the Chairman of all the State Bar Councils andother representatives of the Bar Associations from across the India were present in thisJoint Meeting.Mr. Manan Mishra, Chairman of Bar Council of India said on this occasion,
The manner in which these Bills are drafted and are sought to be introduced by the HRDMinistry is clandestinely trying to sideline and to harm the advocates of the country andtheir elected statutory Bodies in the matter of legal education and legal profession. The joint meeting has unanimously RESOLVED to oppose these Bills till the HRD Ministrydoe
s not exclude “the legal education” and the “Advocates Act, 1961” from the purview of
all these anti people Bills. The meeting was of the unanimous view that the HER Bill, 2011
is not only an attack on the Advocates’ Act, but it is completely in violation of the federal
structure of the nation. The HRD Ministry is trying to hand-over the entire educationsystem to a few of its nominees. Apart from being arbitrary, the said Bill is totally
impractical and attempts to spoil “the tested and well established traditional norms of education system of the country”.
