GRiSP was launched in November2010.GRiSP brings together hundreds o scientists to embark on the most comprehensive at-tempt ever to deploy rice’s genetic diversity. Cutting-edge research aimed at discovering newrice genes and deciphering their unctions is eeding into accelerated eorts to break the yieldbarrier in rice and to breed new generations o “climate-ready” rice with fooding toleranceand other traits that are essential or adapting production in the ace o climate change. The International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) is leading GRiSP and activities in Asia, withthe Arica Rice Center (AricaRice) leading work in Arica and the International Center orTropical Agriculture (CIAT) leading work in Latin America and the Caribbean. Other interna-tional research organizations such as the Centre de Coopération Internationale en RechercheAgronomique pour le Développement (CIRAD), L’Institut de Recherche pour le Développement(IRD), and the Japan International Research Center or Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS) are play-ing strategic roles in GRiSP and many more partnerships are being ostered. The responsibility or this publication rests solely with the Global Rice Science Partnership.
