April 26, 2012Dear brothers and sisters in the LordWe send you greetings from Athens!! May the Lord continue to bless you as youserve Him in your Churches, families, and ministries, even at the workplace orschools! We would like to share with you the latest news from our ministriessince January.
The Youth Center continues serving ourneighborhood on Fridays and Saturdays. In thepicture you see a brother named Manos, givinghis testimony and singing hymns to the children.Manos has been a member of a well-known musicband back in the 90s. The Lord changed Manosand know he’s producing Christian music. He ‘sattending a nearby Pentecostal Church, but alsoserves with us very often.
The ministry of the meals is also growing. Wechanged a bit our strategy. We switched to twotimes a week (Mondays and Thursdays, 12-1p.m.) and we give approximately 130 mealseach time. So we give about 1000 meals permonth. The Bible Study still continues. Pleasepray for Angelo, Dimitri, Michael, Antonis,Giannis (from Greece), Fetouris (from Egypt),Adam (from Romania). Most of them come verysteadily at the Bible Study. We are very glad when we see that Angelo andFetouris start coming to Church. We also praise the Lord because it seems thatwe will be able to build a much better kitchen inside our Church so we can cookfood right there, instead of having to pick up the food from the homes of thosewho prepare it. When this is completed we will also be able to increase the
number of days we distribute meals. Praise the Lord for that. Please, continue topray that we will be also able to rent a place to host extra activities for ourfriends!
Also, our Church baptized 3 Iranian believers who come to our Church, throughthe “Helping Hands” ministry. Now, our Church has about 10 Iranian brotherswho join us every Sunday morning for the worship service. We pray and hopethat our Church will be a blessing to them.
During the week right after Easter (April 17-20) the Youth Group continued to prepare games for theneighborhood children at the local playground. Thishas become a wonderful tradition for us, that helpsus cultivate the relationship, create newfriendships, and also give opportunities to Churchkids to grow in their faith. This year we were also joined by a number of Albanian Children, throughthe ministry of “Porta” (it means “doorin bothGreek and Albanian). “Portaministers in ourneighborhood among the Albanians in a variety of ways.
Please pray as we prepare for the 9
VBS in a few weeks. This year’s theme is“Can you count the stars?” We will study five incidents from the life of the fatherof faith, Abraham. Herewith you can see the invitation andbanner we are preparing! We thank the Lord for your encouragement andpartnership with us in the ministry of the gospel here inAthens. May our Lord renew you daily as you serve Him,by His Word and Holy Spirit!
