Foreword
by Michelle Akers
Hey there! Welcome to
Heads Up!
I am so glad you’re takingthe time to check this book out, because it not only talksabout sports and some very cool athletes, but it also brings tolight the most important topic you’ll ever consider in yourlifetime: Jesus Christ.Too often, it seems, we spend our lives chasing after funtimes, popularity, lots of money, and other things, and weneglect the most important piece of who we are, what we’recreated for, and what will happen to us when we die.Isn’t it true? We spend so much time pursuing everythingwe think will make us cool or tough or popular, that when wefinally find out that all this “stuff” isn’t really important, wefind ourselves confused, disheartened, and empty.Soon we realize there has to be more to life than what wehave spent all our time chasing. That’s why this book (and otherones like it) is so important. It gives real-life answers to the big-time questions and shows us how much we mean to God.Looking back, I can see that
Heads Up!
is exactly the kindof book I wish I’d had as a kid. It not only might have helpedme steer clear of a lot of trouble and heartache, but it wouldalso have helped me understand more about who God is, whathe has in store for me if only I follow him, and the incredibleprivilege and gift of being his kid.You see, when I became a Christian as a teenager, I didn’thave much help spiritually. One desperate night, I turned mylife over to Christ, and from then on, yes, I knew I was going toheaven I even went to church and tried to study the Bible.
