Rules and Guidelines

ELIGIBILITY
Any resident of Cabarrus, Rowan, Stanly, or Union County is eligible to enter contest. There will be two divisions: Student (grades 6-12) Adult Work must be original to the artist and created within the last two years. Artists may enter 2 items. All artwork must be submitted to your local library branch for consideration. Each library branch will be responsible for transporting art to a centralized judging area in their respective counties. 2-D 3-D

All two-dimensional entries must be ready to hang with black matting or mounting attached. No frames or saw tooth hangers please. We wish to accommodate artists in any way we are able, but we reserve the right to reject any entry that requires special installation.

Subjects and Themes

Artwork must relate to The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins and the themes brought out in the book such as survival, self-sacrifice, love, competition, personal growth, rebellion, and death.

Schedule
Artwork will be accepted only on Wednesday, August 22 at any public library location during normal library hours. Displays for first round judging begin Monday, August 27 at locations to be determined by each county. County winners will be notified by Wednesday, September 5 and their artwork will be transported to Cabarrus County by library staff. Display and judging of the 16 finalists will be Friday, September 7 through Saturday, September 15 (location to be announced).

Prizes
Each county will display submissions in their own spaces. Two teen and two adult winners from each county will be selected by a community panel and will win cash prizes of $50 each. They will move on to the final round of judging. In the final round of judging, one piece will win as the Overall Judges Pick and receive a prize of $100. Popular vote will determine the winner of the $100 Panem Prize. The final prizes will be awarded at the Cabarrus Arena on October 13th at the Final Event!

Artwork PickUp
All non-finalists artwork will be returned to the main library in each county. It should be picked up between Monday, September 10 and Thursday, September 13. Any artwork not picked up by deadlines will become property of the Library. All judged/winning entries should be picked up from the main branch of each county library system between Wed., October 17th and Wed., October 24th. All judged/winning entries will be displayed at the discretion of the 411 Committee during the Event Dates.
