Killer of Jonathan Carey DeniedParole
Edwin Tirado, the killer of JonathanCarey, who had autism and was only13, will remain in jail.
“Thankfully justice was served by the parole board denyingthe release of Edwin Tirado from State prison. As Jonathan’s State caregiver Tirado was supposed to protectand care for my precious son Jonathan -not brutally killhim. Edwin Tirado already escaped with a light sentence of 5 to15 years for killing Jonathan who was an innocent childand extremely vulnerable because of his disabilities”.“Jonathan is tremendously missed every day. I could notbe prouder of Jonathan, all that he needlessly suffered inthe three short years living in residential care will helphundreds of thousands of other people with disabilities. Itis Jonathan who is the catalyst for reforming New YorkStates extremely dangerous mental health care systemwhich is riddled with rampant abuse and neglect. Jonathan’s Law was the first of many laws to help betterprotect all individuals with disabilities in New York State”.
