“Latinoamérica”, by Calle 13
Clearly, this song is importantbecause of the many economic, social and political themes itdeals with. We can say that themain message and the mainobjective is to make Latin-American cultural identitystronger, and to expell economicand political forces from ourlands.
5/25/12When we mention “economic and political forces”, we are referringto imperialism, constituted by the richest countries of the world andmultinational companies that exploit the less powerful nations withthe only objective of greater self-development and growth. Theytake our natural resources and they use us as their consume forceand as their workers. For this last reason, we can call thisrelationship “neocolonialism”: strong and influential nations behavelike colonial powers of imperialism but in a post- colonial world.
