This guide was largely written by Stephen Chong with assistance fromMeredith Wallis while they were law clerks at the Transgender Law Center(TLC) during the summer of 2006. The content is built on the work of individual activists and advocates, including Roslyn Manley, Shannon Minter,Martha Matthews, Sister Mary Elizabeth, Dylan Vade, Mara Keisling, SpencerBergstedt, Phyllis Randolph Frye, Victoria Neilson, and Shirley Bushnellamong others. It is patterned after similar guides from Pennsylvania andFlorida created by Pennsylvania Equality Advocates (originally written byTiffany Palmer) and the National Center for Lesbian Rights (originally writtenby Karen Doering), respectively.
