LiLi Tower

Hi there, this build is already started begin march, but really wanted to let it see on bit-tech It's called the LiLi Tower. I've always had a kind of love for the Lian Li cubes Not one but two Lian Li PC-V351 One is new and the other one has some changes already First i wanna thank some sponsors of this build Mr. Freddy

En Mr. Ruud

Thanks to these guys my start is going to be a little faster and nicer. Thnx!!! The hardware - I7 920 D0 - 6x 2GB Corsair DDR3 1600 - 2 x EVGA GTX470 - Antec True Power Quatro-1000 - 2 x Aqua-computer Aquaero VF - Asus Rampage III GENE etc. Water cooling - 2 x Black Ice GT Stealth 240 Black - 2 x EK GTX470 waterblock - EK Supreme CPU block - 2 x EK-Multioption RES X2 - 150 Advanced - 2 x Swiftech 355 - Tygon slang - Bitspower Fittingen And more......... The color is gonna be black and transparent Some pics of the LiLi's Number 1

And number 2

Number 2 is a little modded already

the top ia gonna be different, not with these fangrills

This is the only thing i have from this Lian, but it's not bad. Have some nice ideas for this

Number 1 is complete, this one is gonna be the bottum

Psu and Hdd's gonna be under the motherboard

The first idea was like this...

But like this is better

On top al the water cooling stuff is gonna be placed

2 rads, 2 reservoirs en 2 pumps. Last week i did some measuring and drilling the rivets Sawn a piece out of the 5,25 bay for the cables from the gpu

Gpu in it, already did the sleeving

Al of the remaining cables can be put behind the bay

And these grilz will be put here with transparent fans with white leds

Flipped the HDD bay, so now have space for 2 HDD's and a SSD

Placed the motherboard tray, also flipped

Nice slots for the cables

This space is gonna be sawn out of the top. (formerly the bottom)

The back is gonna be like this, but painted black and i need to get/make a plate for the gpu

Always nice to get a new motherboard. A sweet little rampage The Asus Rampage III Gene fat box

The motherboard

Republic for gamers, for a non gamer

6 Slots on a small motherboard, i like it

Fill it up, with.............. the EK-RAM Dominator

Shiny

installed it

Using a EK-Supreme HF

And 2 Black Ice GT Stealth 240

These are gonna be placed in the top Lian

Fits perfectly Placed the motherboard in the lowwer Lian

Not much space anymore, what is a good thing in this build

And my 2 GTX470 in it

Everything fits, in the top Lian i have a lot of space for the watercooling

Now i needs to decide which reservoir i am gonna place

This weekend i had a lot of sawning to do Almost nothing is left from the Lian The middle of the 2 Lians

And the top of the Lian

There gonna be 2 Aquaero's VF inside, for this 2 times a slot

Put it al together and brainstorming again

Made a little mistake, i tought that the aquaero,s where the same but the are different versions,

So i had to drill the holes for the bolds again more to the left

just a little bit different

For the front 2 times a slot for the displays

Had some Acryl covers for the aquaero, but the aren't the same color. So need to order 1 more

The hole cover

Made a acryl midplate. This times 2, one for the top and one for the midplate

Did some drawning

And drilling/sawning time

Made holes for the cpu and the Rams and made a slot for the gpu's

Removed the tape, needs to be cleaned

And needs to straighten some lines, but this is the idea

And the BP fillports, a total of 4. @ for the cpu and 2 for the RAM

Second Lian on top, and more brainstorming.

Coolermaster has givven me some nice stuff for my build A nice package with all kind of things

80mm fans with white leds

A nice psu tester (sometime i blow things up)

With upgrade units, for more load

Black screws and other stuff

A beautifull mouse, the Sentinel

And....... the turbine masters

which gonna be placed like this.

Also i had some black aluminium panels, so lets get to work

everything measured

Drilled the holes

And placed on the back

mounted on the back

And the fans for the radiators are finished

Power up

The are real quiet, and a lot of air And finally my acryl has arrived So sawn everything and drilled the holes Top left

Top right

Left

Right

And placed on each other

Turned around

On each side there's gonna be brushed aluminium. Th original panels i have finished already

Left

And right

That's all for today Grtzzz.

Thanks you guys, for the nice respons. Like i said before, this project is started at the beginning of march, and i have 2 or 3 major updates finished allready. Today it's time to post these update,s. Hope you like these to After this update, i am almost at the same level of updating as i am today Brainstorming about the rads First i wanna to make some costum Brackets But dont think thats looks nice So i did something different, have maked a radiator tray Only need to Cut out 2 times a Rectangle for the airflow Made slots for the fittings

Just like this

Slots around the fittings

Only need to connect the radiators together

Some highflow fittings

Looks nice i think

And the one on the top

The pumps are gonna be like this

I did a lot of thinking about the reservoirs, and tried a lot of things I have spinbays, EK tubes 150 and EK tubes 250 Had taken some pics what i had tried The spinbays like this

The 150mm tubes

Or like this

The 250mm tubes, but then horizontal

Was getting crazy about this problem, but then............. Not horizontal or vertical, but in a inclined position From the top. Have a lot of space in the middle for the tubes

Left side. Pump with a lot of rotary fittings

Right side, almost the same as the left. Only the tubes gonna be with a different angle

i did some small stuff. I've tested the airflow through the mesh It wasn't that good, so i've sawn a piece out of it

Needs a paintjob

1 rectangle is bigger then the other one, this is because i dont wanted to see the suspension from the rads Also i had some Glostrings, nice stuff

I hoped they where white, but they are bleu/green, but doesnt matter. Had to change my midplate

Looks fine in the dark

like this

This is also coming in a vertical line in the front

A nice glow, i think

Purchased a FrozenQ reservoir. The blue one

2 reservoirs looks good, 3 even better

Nice light in it

Only i have 2 different colors blue, sow need to brainstorm for that

And need to make something for the pumps

Also i have sold my 3 GTX470, and get some other nice gpu's

Gtx480, really nice cards

Nickel blocks on it, looks better with this build

Very shinny backplates

The hole thing is really havy, so need to make something for this

On the corners maked a kind of pilar

I am in love with the backplates

i had some nice stuff been delivered I think it,s the last stuff i need to finish this build, i hope So what did i get in: Some nice aluminium fans, the NorthQ 120MM 3711WL Silent Tornado

And some BP fillporten

Zilver plugs BP pluggen

BP links

Aqua computer powerbooster

And 2 bottles of Feser Aqua ultra water The fans are coming across the motherboard, pulling fresh air over the board

Like this

Painted the back black

And i have played with the glostrings, i did made it some more blue Top vertical line

And vertical line under

Nice effect on the inside

Played with the different light sources, fans with the white led and some other leds

Ram cooler also white leds in it

Yesterday i did the front The 2 push buttons. One for the on switch and one for the eject button Sawn a piece of acryl. and maked 2 holes in it

Placed the front plate

The plex behind the front is gonna be enlighted, so that you have a white ring from the button and one around the button Also placed the new acryl front for the aquaero

Made the aluminium strips for the 2 aquaero's

Placed everything. I think i gonna make some cover for it

almost finished the front

Dont know if i make the buttons black, or leave them silver

That's it for now Grtzzz. Because my pictures where offline for a while, i'm gonna treat you guys for another major update

This time i couldn,t resist to fill the top section of my Lian The good thing of this build is that i can fill the both sections separate So i can do the leak test without my hardware under it, i had some bad luck with BP rotery,s in the past First i had al the tube in place, solid and flexible Turned the pumps, only need to make a nice bracket for this

These connected with BP links

For now connected with Tygon tube

Did the same thing on the Other side

Only a bit different for the higher placed radiator

The FrozenQ res. also connected with BP links

Nice in the middle

And fill it up

And yes, i had a leaking rotery under the reservoir not shocking, but need to exchange this Also placed some black fillports, just to see the looks of it Al the black fittings and fillports are also beeing exchanged by silver think it,s a nice effect, seems to be floating

Dont forget the links between the gpu's

Nice effect also is the illuminated edges from the slots

Gonna be silver

Placed the wc section on it

and the other side with the gpu's also illuminated

Using i bright white led

Now everything is almost in place, i'am thinking to remove the FrozenQ reservoir. It's to much chaos, and to bright i think, so i have changed some big little things Removed the FrozenQ, just to get some peace in the upper section Instead of this i've made a piece of mirror acryl around the pumps to let it look like everything is one piece (The Tygon tubes are gonna be changed)

Connect the pumps together, just for the looks. Has no function, but looks nice

Just need to make a cover for the pumps

Around the pumps the mirror acryl, for this i have cut out 2 slots to fit the pumps in

Think this is much better with the FozenQ out. Now i made the top cover of the Lian Sawn the holes for the fillports and drilled holes

Over this there's gonna be a aluminium cover, but i'm thinking about this for the shape Also been busy with my Be quiet psu. all the way black sleeving and give a little paintjob to the back And a little piece of me on the pic

Always beautifull Mdpc quality sleev.

In the 5.25 bay mch room to put all the cables

The curve for the motherboard cables De curve van de draadjes naar de mobo voeding

Just needs to be shapened

Cpu cables true the 3.25 bays

For the cables from the gpu's i used flatcable

Just like this

Like i said before, painted the back of the psu

Gonna make a plate, just to get it the same like all the other covers

Made the links for the gpu's

I am still waiting for silver fillports. When they arrived i can put everything together, and connect all the cables to the 2 aquaero's But the most cables are covered for now

That's it for this time. See you soon

Update!!! Got my Shinny silver fittings, better than black

Fortunately there are a lot of modders who think along with me. So my good friend Pascal came up with the brilliant idea. The SLI bridge out of steel, this after much polishing and you have a nickel look SLI bridge

Unfortunately you do not see that much any more of it when the upper part is over it, but still a little bit. I have the psu lowered for a few millimeters to get a line with the side panel

The hdd bay on the other side, I've painted it black.

Also this is in line with the side panel

Pretty cool effect the acryl edge under the aluminum plate

I've Also made some adjustments to the top. The air that the turbine masters blow out in to the case must go somewhere. Thats why i've made slots in the top

jigsaw and file come in handy

And after much sawing and filing

The end result

For cables that are going to aquaero's. This still needs a cap over it.

Then it was time to play around with the tubes. The small tubes first

With silver fittings and fill ports it looks very nice now

The GPUs also connected. Left to the radiator and right to the pump

CPU connected

Rams also

Radiator for the GPUs connected

And the pump. first loop is finished

Other loop

Top placed

Tonight I think i'm gonna fill it up and test for leaks. Grtzzz. Before filling, I have made a small change I dont like tubes crossing each other. So this is how it's gonna be

, you didn't miss anything, i think. Connection is just for fun, and to get the pumps in one line there,s almost no flow between the pumps, all the pressure goes to the outlets on the sides from the pumps. Didnt like the original color of the wire, it,s to soft, have seen the red (pink glow) and the white(green glow) but with some adjustment it,s much better This night i filled the tower up, no leaks Just a little teaser for you guys

And another update for you guys

Update: filling Last night filled the first loop. Fortunately, without too much trouble, went pretty smoothly. I just had to tighten the reservoir.

The teaser, a lot of air after filling

A good flow through the ram and cpu block

After a while, the fog began to pull away

This morning filled the other loop. This went completely without problems

Plenty of bubbles.

And the GPUs are underwater

Air bubbles were during the day all almost gone, but will still take some time before everything is out

Some more pics from above.

I also received a couple of times the request to show the hole case. So for the occasion, I put the panels back. sleeving and connecting cables has to be done and some other small time-consuming things. And I think to lasercut the side-and top panels, instead of to go messing around to get it right. These side / top panel gonna have a nice thin edge and different forms (I think)

Lower aluminum panels are good like this with the acryl behind

Top section is now with the acryl panels only

Itself looks all right now, but still think the aluminum panels will be the finishing touch

- Fans are still to be modded (circle center) - I / O shield also to do something with - And there's gonna be a backplate for the psu

And front panels below needs to be made. Same dimensions as the two pieces as above

That's it for now Grtzzz. The LiLi Tower is of course not on hold. Was only in doubt whether I would let the custom side panels to be laser cutted or do it myself. Hmm, gonna do it myself. Measured it 3 times before cutting

Holes for the jigsaw

And after a lot of cutting and filing, 1 x side panel. Others also made but of course in reverse

For the front panel also drawn two pieces

Panel 1

Panel 2

Side has been made and fit. It has the same angle as the reservoir

The part below, only needs to eliminate some cables behind

The right part

And the front panel placed

The display of the aquaero is blue now, I have been using dark blue filter Other one is still off, still needs to make the cable

And some pictures when it was dark

The front with ........ a blue cross

Line passes through nicely

Total shot

He already runs now for two weeks very smoothly. Needs to do some small things before the final pictures But these will certainly come. Grtzzz. Hi Y'all on this very sunny day (in the netherlands) Just one small addition to the previous update. I was hoping my sleeve for the McMod was coming in this weekend, but no. So cleaned the BBQ after one year of standing still. In about an hour I'm gonna put half a cow on it, and the feast can begin. In the meantime, I was still brainstorming about the LiLi tower. I just miss something ........ I know...........the top. With the last aluminum i have, made some nice pieces. Can can afford to mess it up because the plates are EOL over here The two plates measured and marked, holes made for the jigsaw

After some cutting and filing work got everything nice and straight.

And the other panel, slightly different. This for the line around to continue

Still need to drill the holes and the countersunk the bolts.

Now, there's nothing more to do with the outside appearance of the tower (I think) The inside can still use some light, so tonight's gonna play with loose LEDs and LED strips And I'm thinking hard to put a blue color in the water. Think it is very nice effect. I've Looked for Dye Mayhem Deep Blue, I think one of the better color additives. But nowhere in the Netherlands to obtain. Belgium either, and I am just told that the dye is EOL. Now I have no experience with Feser Feser Active UV dye or blue dye active clear / blue entries, so if anyone has used it already once, please let me know! Grtzzz. Today I've got my blue dye so I can finally show you some pictures of the case closed, and especially for the Motm

nomination this update Feser View UV Dye

It was transparant

Add a little bit of dye

Some more

Add about 3 ml

Power up the pump

And everything turned blue

One more to go

Some more

And everything turned blue

It's now the some blue color as the illuminated glo string in the middle

Other side

So I can finally close the LiLi

The upper right part

The lower right part

And the whole right side

The back with the Coolermaster turbine

Closed the left side

And from above

It's a lot of blue, but I hope you like it Just need to do some more cable manegement and put some nice lights in it So to be continued Almost done with the lightning, here some preview pictures, but...............more to come I used white SMD led strips

Need to make one flatcable for the aquaero, then LiLi Tower is finished

Last Update: Pictures by night

I know, there's a lot of pics...........better than a large piece of text I think That's it folks, Hope you like it Keep on modding

ust one small addition due to questions about aquaero The flat cable for the display and aquaero The Aquaero (old one that I had lying around)

This old versions can not be separated I think, and do not want it demolished. But those who are in the LiLi I could easily be separated

For the cable I ordered 16 wire ribbon cable

female connectors

And headers

One side connected straight

Other side, crossed the wires. Careful split the wires with a knife

And cross it. wire 1 on pin 2, 2 on 1, 3 on 4 and 4 on 3 etc.

Almost finished

Header pushed in

And the cable is finished

Still needed to make one so a good reason for this mini tutorial

Grtzzz.
