DR. FAROOQ SATTAR VISITS AUSTRALIA

Dr. Farooq Sattar, Minister for overseas Pakistanis visited Australia last year and specially visited the Mutahida Qaumi Movements office in Sydney where he was warmly welcomed.

Mr. Sohail Warraich is not a new name for the Pakistani community. His talk show Ek din GEO ke Saath has been successfully running for quite some time at a private TV Channel. Mr. Waraich is currently in Perth on a private visit and has very kindly spared sometime out of his busy schedule for our group on Wednesday before he flies to Sydney. The venue is Seminar Room 5, School of Population Health, Clifton Street Building UWA. Light refreshments will be served. ON A SAD NOTE

Experience the move ECCWA FITNESS ON RUN PROJECT


As part of the project ECCWA runs free fitness classes for women in North Perth, City of Perth and Greenwood. This week the classes will focus on Bollywood dance moves. The classes are for ladies only and are held Thursday, Friday and Saturday and are free

A consultation document has been released by the government to recieve feedback. The document outlines an integrated, patient-centric, multi-disciplinary renal palliative care service pathway. The pathway includes a strong link with a palliative care team. The service pathway is based on current best practice.

new national non-Government organisation MULTICULTURAL MENTAL HEALTH ASSOCIATION AUSTRALIA (MMHAA) set up recently to nationally represent agencies and individuals who work for and promote the interests of Australians from non English speaking backgrounds with mental illness, their carers and families. As an NGO, MMHAA will be able to advocate to Government the need to address the backlog of issues affecting Australians from nonEnglish speaking backgrounds with mental illness and help improve their mental health status.

This is definitely the time when wedding season makes its presence not only in Pakistan but overseas as well. Not surprisingly we have received few photographs of the ceremonies and the only reason that they are not included is the lack of consent from the bride and groom. As the newsletter is in public domain an d the photographs are sent by their friends with goodwill, I hope you will understand. Heartiest wishes to all who are tying knots and more to their families
