ent snakes. Gracie is 7 years old and is in 2nd grade. She is my little diva she loves to shop for new clothes and get her nails done. She also does very well in school. She is a great help with her little brother Tanner. Tanner is 2 years old and is what we call our "precious angel". He wasnt exactly planned, but we cannot imagine life without him now. He is the sweetest little boy and loves to play on his slide. I think his grandma Sharon may have an extra special place in her heart for him, too. It is safe to say he is a little spoiled by all of us! I have been a volunteer in the nursery since Elijah was born in 2002 and I enjoy the time I get to spend with the little ones. I have also been a part of different productions that the church has been involved with in the past,

Hello, we are the Morris family: Chad, Shelley, Elijah, Gracie, and Tanner. We have attended First Assembly for many years. Chad and I have been married 20 years this July. We made First Assembly our church home shortly after we were married. We were married at a young age, and attending church regularly was one of the best things we could have done for our marriage. Chad is a UMR graduate in Civil Engineering and works for the Department of Defense, and I am a Registered Nurse employed at PCRMC. Elijah is our firstborn and is a pretty typical 10 year old. He does well in school, but would rather be home. He loves to read, especially books about various reptiles. He also loves to bring those various reptiles home - yes that includes several differ-

Lord, Teach Our Hands to War As We Prepare the Way for a Great Harvest
Not too long ago, our oldest son had stepped back from his faith in Christ, and he began to examine whether or not Jesus was the only way to heaven. He sent us a letter that outlined his longing to know truth, and his move from Christianity to Agnosticism. He asked us to pray for him, and you can believe that we did. After some months I found a note in my message box saying he wanted us to know he had moved back to his roots, and felt he was even stronger and more resolute in his faith in Jesus than he was before. He told us that what brought him back was a quote he had found in reading The Book of Samurai. Admittedly that was an unusual thing to bring him back to that place in Christ, but he reasoned that the Holy Spirit can use anything. The quote said this: With an intense, fresh and undelaying spirit, one will make his judgments within the space of seven breaths. It is a matter of being determined and having the spirit to break right through to the other side. Hagakure (The Book of Samurai). He said that when he read this quote it made him realize that the enemy gains ground when we delay, and that we have to be prepared to make the right decisionssometimes in a span of seven breaths. Paul stresses to Timothy that a time will come when he has to be on guard against lies, and

deceit and doctrines of demons (1 Tim. 4:1-2). In these times he would have to make decisions based on what he knew to be true, and guard against the invasion of the enemy. In other words he should fight like a Samurai. With his cause being set ahead of time, his allegiance to the King being resolute in his heart, and with his weapon in place, he would be ready in a moments notice to fight for truth. Our son said that when he read this he was also reminded of Matthew 11:12. From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven has suffered violence, and the violent take it by force. The Kingdom of God is still pressing forward vigorously. This is clear when we see the sick being healed, sinners being brought to Christ, people in bondage being delivered and restoration and revival coming to the core of Gods people. Still, not everyone enters the kingdom. Many are refusing and resisting. But forceful people (those who are moving with the fire of the Holy Spirit), who dare to break away from faulty human thinking, and rely on the Word in all its purity, are entering in, and through prayer are taking hold of the altar of God, thereby advancing His Kingdom. These are the people on their knees in prayer, who fight like Samuraitheir sword being the word of God. They fight the good fight, no matter the cost to themselves, because they fight for the Kingdom of God. Such individuals are eagerly taking possession of the kingdom, and the Almighty God is establishing through their prayers breakthrough that is unprecedented. We cannot see the kingdom of God established in our lives, in our homes, or in Rolla unless we are prepared to press in and fight. Prayer is warring against the enemy. Earnest praying offered with untiring energy will waylay the enemys plans as we stand in the gap, and advance forward the kingdom of God. For the warrior of Christ, prayer is not an optionit is his weapon. Lord, you train my hands to war (Ps 18:34). Teach me how to be a warrior on my knees. Carol Hudler

Ive grown as a writer, so when I sat down to write, I focused less on finishing a good song and more on the message that song conveys. Matt pushed me extremely hard to make every single part of the song great. It was exhausting, but it was such a good thing. Bringing all his musical influences to bear pop, folk, rock, classical, hymns, and moreJosh Wilsons SEE YOU paints a refreshingly relevant musical palate that frames its message beautifully. From the worshipful opener/benediction Sing It, to the picturesque, powerful storytelling of Behind the Beauty to the driving, anthemic I Refuse, Josh creates a captivating melodic landscape that compels listeners to open their eyes and hearts... all at once. Wilsons playful, quirky way with words shines brightest on the contagious upbeats on the record, the piano-pounder Know By Now and Always Only You, a song Josh wrote for his wife Becca after a year of marriage. Its literally what were living, Josh says, just a fun little love song for her. Be sure to listen for a sampling of Beccas voice throughout the song, and for random kitchen implements played in studio by various Wilson family and friends (think: ice cream scooper, toaster, flour sifter, and more). The Bible says, Blessed are those who never see but still believe, but doubt is almost inevitable. Were human, after all. But until that day when faith and sight finally come together, Josh says, Im going to remember what God has done, that he is always faithful, and that he always has a plan that is bigger than what I can see. For more information on Josh Wilson and his newest project, SEE YOU, visit joshwilsonmusic.com. Josh Wilson will be in concert at First Assembly on Sunday, June 24 at 6:00 pm. Doors open at 5:30. Admission is free, and a love offering will be taken during the concert.

AV was founded in 1948 and has become a worldwide organization with headquarters in Kansas City, Missouri. AV is a recovery ministry to help people with alcohol, drugs, or any other sinful addiction. In recovery, a person might choose a higher power. Most recovery programs encourage nonchristian alternatives. Because their personal attempts have repeatedly failed, we at AV promote Jesus Christ and the Bible as the true higher power. AV leadership is comprised of men and women who have had problems with addiction, alcohol, or drugs; have accepted Jesus Christ as their true Lord and Savior, and have maintained at least one year drug and alcohol free by following the teachings of the Bible. Rolla AV is a registered chapter

that maintains strict anonymity. ALL are welcome. We teach the twelve steps of AA along with Jesus Christ and the Bible. Rolla AV is a life and death ministry. Alcohol and drug addictions are at epidemic proportions. Ive seen that the jails and prisons are full. If Jesus came back today, he would not go back to the bars and drug dealers or the lost and ask why. He would go to his children, his church, his bride, and ask why. We ask you to promote, support, and pray for Rolla Alcoholics Victorious. Rolla Chairman Steve Merz Alcoholics Victorious meets at Second Baptist on Tuesdays at 7:30pm Celebrate Recovery meets in room 108 at First Assembly during the 9:15 service

Family Feast

Sometimes a story is easy to brush off. It's happening to someone else. I don't know them. Someone else will help. Those are the thoughts to can spring to mind. But faces can make you stop in your tracks. The faces of children in the foster system show the reality: these are kids, and kids who would love to be loved. There are about 1400 children in Missouri's foster care system who are eligible, right now, for adoption. They come in all kinds of packages and sizes. There are cute little tots who like to play. Ten -year-old boys who would like to learn to fish or be able to play soccer. Twelve-year-old girls who would like someone to help with homework, or enjoy shopping getting ice cream with them. Sibling groups of two, three, four kids who want to stay together. Sixteen- or seventeen-year-olds who want

to have a family to watch them graduate, to help them with college or job choices, but who are watching the calendar as the time ticks away and they may age-out of the system with no family to call their own. Some false ideas have grown up about foster care. The truth is that most children in the foster care system (80% of them, in fact) are there because of neglect on the part of their parents, not because of delinquency or legal troubles of the kids themselves. Foster care adoption has little monetary cost involved; the cost is to your time, and to your heart. What a way to witness to these children and to others of the love of God and the obedience of Christians to minister to others. In the next month or so, First Assembly will host the Heart Gallery, a collection of pictures showing children from the foster system who are eligible for adoption. There will also be some information on the process. If you'd like a preview, log on to moheartgallery.org and click the Adoption tab. Faith is being sure of what we hope and certain of what we do not see. Hebrews 11:1 Singer, songwriter and musician extraordinaire Josh Wilson makes his way through life, fully dependent on what he can see with his own two eyes. Whether its navigating from starting point to destination on a map, moving from F sharp to C sharp on one of the myriad of instruments he plays, or interpreting the expression on his wifes face, movement requires the ability to see. At least thats the way it appears. But some days, when reality hits him square in the face and the sting leaves him on the precipice of doubt, Josh Wilsons eyes fail. Theyre simply not enough. Something Ive been learning over the past decade is that when we want to see God, we have to depend less on our physical eyes and more on the Holy Spirit, Josh says. The subtle, still small voice of God. I admit it. Im not the best at it. I want to see God with my eyes... That tension between faith and sight is the undercurrent of Joshs new project, SEE YOU, a vivid collection of unforgettable songs that focus on the evidence of God at work in our lives. With a probing spiritual curiosity and imaginative, selfexamining lyrics, SEE YOU solidifies Josh Wilsons place among the finest song crafters of his day. The project, the follow up to the critically acclaimed release, Life is Not a Snapshot, SEE YOU also marks several new firsts for the singer/ songwriter. Its the first time Josh has worked with a single producer over an entire project. Matt Bronleewe (Jars of Clay, Chris Tomlin) worked with Josh to make the most of his many strengthson both lyrical and musical fronts. Matt and I shaped the whole thing, from beginning to end, Josh says. so

each song flowed into the next, which Ive never done before. The whole experiencefrom days of seclusion writing new songs, to fine tuning every melodic component in studio, to playing 18 instruments on the record, including ukulele, hammered dulcimer, and glockenspielpushed Wilson to a new level of authenticity and creativity in his lifes work. All the words in all the world could never say enough All the notes in my guitar could never play enough... The writing felt more focused than the last album, he says of SEE YOUs evolution. Hopefully,
