I had a difficult time finding a literature circle study contract that was appropriate for high school students. After much research and revision, I created this for a multicultural American book study unit. Students self-selected into groups of 3-5 to read a variety of American authors and themes. They reported out on each of their books to the entire class at the end, producing papers, a powerpoint, a class presentation or panel discussion. Once all the groups present their reports, students not only know about their own book, but a little about five others. In addition, students wrote an additional paper about what the contemporary American books shared in common. There are fact-gathering forms for teachers, bookmarks to track progress, and other resource materials that are also available on this site.
