create text and calendar les. RTF (RichText Format) is a le format with which you can add formatting such as fonts andimages, as well as plain text. RTF is supportedby various text processing applications,including Microsoft Word.The link between the RTF Document Creatorand TOPdesk enables you to create documentswith attractive layouts. What’s more, youdon’t have to copy or retype informationmanually.
How does the RTFDocument Creator work?
The RTF Document Creator works with atemplate le. In this le, you use tags toindicate the text that should be replaced.Once this is done, the RTF Document Creatorwill generate a new text le, using key wordsto replace the tags with the correspondingvalues (key values). This data is retrieved fromthe TOPdesk Event Management module.
The RTF Document Creator has many
applications. For instance, you can uploadthe generated text le to the correspondingcard, or save the le and send it as an emailattachment. The RTF Document Creator usesgeneric text les, so it is also possible tocreate iCalendar les (.ics).
The RTF Document Creator can also be used
for specic versions. For instance, you canconvert the date les of tags that start with‘ics_’ into the UTC time zone needed foriCalendar. It is also possible to convert eldnames in RTF documents to barcode-128,generating scannable bar codes.
Step 1: Create a templatefle in a word processor
Create a template. You can use a wordprocessor such as Microsoft Word for this.a) Insert the TOPdesk values you want toreplace as tags, such as:
b) Save the document as an RTF le in the‘bespoke-work-resources’ folder (whichyou will have to create manually).c) Zip the ‘bespoke-work-resources’ folderand upload it to TOPdesk as bespoke work.
Step 2: Create an HTTPrequest in TOPdesk
TOPdesk controls the RTF Document Creatorwith an HTTP request action, which you cannd in the Event Management module. Youcan also use this module to determine whichtemplate is used and whether the generateddocument should be linked to the card (seegure 2).
