How to Write a Cover Letter
Attaching a cover letter with your resume is a great way to add a personal touch,as long as it looks professional and makes you stand out among other applicants. It should be used to advertise your strengths, and show why youwould be the best for the job you are applying for. It should be short, to the point, and interesting, since a long letter full of stories and irrelevant information willonly make an employer ready for the next application.A cover letter should be written in a formal format, with your address and the datein the left hand corner. The employers address should also be included rightbelow your address, with one space in between the two headings. Include anopening for your letter, such as Dear Mr. or Mrs. Employer. Everything on theletter should be aligned to the left side of the page, with a space in between eachsection. One of the best resources I’ve found for writing cover letters that lead to joboffers is

The First Paragraph
Once you have the heading down, it is time to start the first paragraph. Thepurpose of the opening paragraph is to grab the reader’s attention and makethem want to continue reading. It should only consist of about two to threesentences, and discuss why you are writing the letter to the employer.Include information about what job you are applying for and why you areinterested in their company, but avoid information about how you heard about the job unless it was a mutual contact or recruiting program.
The Second Paragraph – The Most Important Part of Your Cover Letter
The second paragraph is the most important, since it will discuss why you are anideal candidate for the job you are applying for. Only include information that isrelevant to the position you are applying for, and only include two or threeexperiences or accomplishments that are directly related to the job. This will bethe longest paragraph of your cover letter, and can be broken into two if you feelit looks too long.
