The toughest part of this job was waiting for the rebuilt module. :-)
It took me 20 minutes to remove the module (and I took pictures in case anyone needs help). I
rented a car for the 6 days the module was in shipment and repair. It took me about 10 minutes to
get it back in. I started it up, the lights went out as the system checked out (except the TCS OFF
light). I drove it down the street; shut it off; re-started it and the remaining TCS OFF light went out
as well.
This would have run me $2540 for the part, $300 in labor, $120 in diagnostics ($2960). I paid
$160 for the rental, $275 for the rebuild and $120 for the dealer diagnosis ($555).

You can call Auto & Truck Electronics 1-800-257-3395 ext 29

(Jamie)(http://autoecu.com/default.asp) and she will help you out. They can fax you a UPS label
and some diagrams.

The easiest way to do this, is to remove your battery (Neg terminal first), then take out the
platform the battery sits on. You may need to loosen up the fuse box that sits above the ABS
module; this is held on by 3 nuts (one is hidden near the brake reservoir). There are 6 Torx head
(size T-20) screws holding the ABS module in place. You will also need to slide the clip on the
larger module connector. Mine was a bit tough. Then there is one smaller connector plugged into
the bottom of the module that's easy to remove.

I took pictures if anyone needs more info. I'll try to post them somewhere for download.

ABS Module: Self-repair for $275

First, my thanks to 8AA2YM for posting the solution that I followed and am reporting on here (see
end of my post for reference).

So, Santa Monica SAAB quoted me $2600 plus labor. I had it rebuilt for $275 and installed it
myself.

I followed 8AA2YM's step=by=step guide posted here on Saab.net. I removed the ABS control
module unit which took less than 20 minutes from the time I pulled out the tools to the time I
closed the hood. The hardest part of the removal was not losing the six bolts connecting the unit
while I removed them. Other than that, it was very easy to remove.

I contacted Jamie at Auto Truck & Electronics (http://www.autoecu.com). She sent me a UPS
label for 2-day shipping to them. Thier turn-around on the rebuilt was 2 days, then sent it back
UPS via 2-day shipping. So all told six days. Total cost was $275 dollars and comes with a 5-year
warranty. It took me about 15 minutes to re-install the unit from the time I popped the hood to the
time I put the tools away.

Once I had the installation done, I started it up and it's running perfectly again. All lights are off
and my spedometer is working just fine.

I found this solution here on Saab.net by finding posts regarding ABS module units from
8AA2YM. Through the members gallery link here, are pictures with brief step-by-step narrative.
