Spotlight on Valpolicella
Valpolicella, one of our most popular red wines is commonly associated with the Valpolicella viticultural zone in the Verona province in Italy. The Valpolicella area of Italy is quite hilly and has a mild to cool continental climate that is greatly influenced by Lake Garda to the west and the Adriatic Sea to the southeast. The vineyard soils in the Valpolicella tend to be quite gravely and the best vineyards are situated at altitudes of 500 to 1500 feet. Valpolicella wines are made from three primary grape varietals: Corvina Veronese, Rondinella, and Molinara. The Valley Wine Cellar offers two main types of Valpolicella wines: Valpolicella and Amarone. Our Valpolicella wines tend to be a little lighter bodied than other red wines such as Merlots and Cabernet Sauvignons. In fact, our Valpolicella offerings tend to be very easy drinking, fragrant and rich in flavours of berries and red fruit. Our Cru Select Valpolicella Ripassa made using the traditional Ripasso method of fermenting the wine with dried grape skins The Valley Wine Cellars Amarone offerings provide a luxurious, velvety, heavybodied red wine that is made traditionally using desiccated grapes and dried grape skins. Check out our wide selection sure to please any palate: Heritage Estates Valpolicella - $55 Grand Cru Valpolicella - $70 Premier Cru Italian Valpolicella - $95 Premier Cru Italian Amarone - $95 Cru Select Italian Valpolicella Ripassa - $100 Cru Select Italian Amarone - $100 CCWS Italian Amarone - $122 CCWS Italian Valpolicella - $122 En Primeur Amarone della Valpolicella Classico - $138
